I will be a freshman for the upcoming year of 2008. I took my placement test and I am waiting for the results. I did not receive any academic advising yet, but from what I heard, it is a good thing i didn't when they had the academic advising day the same as the placement test because they made the students request classes at that moment. I really want to go threw the course catalog for the school of arts and sciences. Does anybody have a link to the online course catalog? Also, I know there are course requirments, etc. But how does the math course requirment work. I saw that under the math requirment(quanitative reasoning) that I could take economic forcasting or something along those lines to fufill a math requirment. Can somebody explain to me how this works? I plan on scheduling a academic advising session in july one on one. Thanks for the help.

heres a link to an online course catalog: Catalog Navigator : Programs, Faculty, and Courses

its not the most organized thing ever, but its a lot better than nothing

Course Catalogue.
Rutgers University - Online Schedule of Classes

The math requirement is actually pretty simple. Over the course of your 4 years at RU you have to take 2 math classes. A real hardcore math class (pf the precalc, calc, type) and a sort of vaguer math class (like stat or perhaps your economic forcasting----you would have to check). The deal with math though, is that if you placed into calc, you only have to take ONE math class. The quantitative reasoning one, the stat or whatever thingy. If you placed below precal, say algebra 2, you have to work your way up till you finish precalc.

For a sort of online advising, this site is REALLY recommended.

Hope that helps.

are we allowed to take expo101 or any other writing courses in the FIRST semester? b/c i really wanna take this soph or junior year.

If you place into it, rather than basic comp, then you can take it whenever you want. I have a friend who plans to took it his junior year. You might want to get it over with though, just so you know. If have taken the English AP, as I did, you can avoid it altogether. It has the reputation of being a grade-killer.

i scored 600 on the CR. im waived into Expo101 without placement test, right? i don't wanna take this in my frosh year, because i'm planning on transferring out of Rutgers the following year. don't really wanna ruin my gpa...

grrrr transfer. Let me guess--thou art from NJ? As an out-of-state student I know that rutgers has a good reputation everywhere but its home state.
