Alright so I have orientation in 2 days and my schedule looks like this.

BUS-X 100
BUS-X 104
CSCI-A 100
FOLK- F101
M118

Classes on monday and wendsday consecutive 8am- 12pm then Finite from 330-430 with Kattner is he good?

Tuesday 2 classes 1 11-12 the other 230-330

Thursday 1 Class 11-12 (Catchup/ Get ahead day?)

Friday 11-12 then finite 330-430

Doable? Thoughts comments?

Did you take Calculus in high school? If so and you didnt get AP credit, I’d take M119 instead.

I took stats my senior year. So I believe finite is the better choice.

Your schedule looks good.

As far as finite, calculus might be a better choice, but it would be hard to say if you don’t know the person taking it. You don’t need both finite and calculus to get into Kelley. If you take X100, I would avoid taking both finite and calculus. Take the second one after you get into Kelley.

One thing about finite is that Kelley students can’t test out of it, so there are many, many more smart people taking finite than calculus. Add to that the fact that many smart people test out of M119 and take M211 or M212, so that makes calculus M119 even less competitive.

These two classes pretty much grade on a curve, so it is better to be in the class with fewer bright kids. I know my son dropped finite after getting an F on the first test; he later took M119 and got an A. But lots of people say they had an easier time with finite. Both are very challenging classes for most students, and a solid B in either is a very good grade.

I favor calculus just from the fact that you have much higher achieving students in Finite, since Kelley students can’t test out of it and therefore a bunch of pretty smart Kelley students take it at IUB, although a lot of direct admits wind up taking Finite at their cc in the summer in order not to hurt their IU gpa.

Well as for Finite. I actually started studying and watching the finite show haha. So for now im going to stick with Finite as also ive never taken calc so not sure of what to expect.
And for the 2nd semester the requirements i have to take are K201 and A100? Then I suppose 2 filler classes since I tested out of english from APs. Or should I just aim for 15 hours again the 2nd semester?

I would just go with 13 credits in the Spring, definitely including K201 and A100. A100 is a one-credit course, but it can be very time consuming. 15 first semester and 13 second semester will give you 28, two more credits than you need to apply to Kelley. Maybe take X220 this Spring during the eight weeks session that you don’t take A100. The class is very easy, and does not have a final exam.

Great that you are getting a jump on Finite.
