hey, Allison, i sent my deposit yesterday too =D

i am going to the orientation on June 13 and 14.

anyone else will go on that day?

btw, do all of us need to take the replacement test for math? even if we are gonna take AP Cal BC, and got a decent score on SAT 2C? anyone knows?

there's all the requirement things regarding SAT II's and APs on vandy's website. I know they use SAT II's for placement purposes.

i think with certain scores you test out of certain classes, but they don't cover your core requirement for that subject area.

pretty sure we all take it if we haven't already. I think they specifically said AP calc scores won't matter?

General comment/ description: Heyyy I'm pretty sure I'm going to Vandy. I'm going down to Nashville for the open house on the 15th! Is anyone else going?

ahh I can't go let me know how it is!

"pretty sure we all take it if we haven't already. I think they specifically said AP calc scores won't matter?"

i know, but what about SATII?

If you already took it, you won't need to again...

I believe the discussion is about the math placement test required for placement purposes. The policy may be different this year than last, so you will need to check, but last year there was some confusion because the admission literature said that a placement test was required even if you scored well on the SAT I and/or II. The school claimed theirs tests for different things than the SATs do. That said, my son was going into engineering, and he had an 800 on the Math SAT II, and 800 on the regular SAT math portion, and he knew he did well on the BC Calculus exam (5), even though he hadn't gotten the scores yet. He talked to the engineering registrar who said he definitely did not have to take the placement test at the summer orientation even though the admission literature said everyone had to. They allowed him to register for 2nd year Accellerated Calculus instead of regular Calculus, with the understanding of course that if for some reason he did not place out of Calculus with the AP, he would have to change courses. Later, the engineering school said that they do not require placement tests. They could have avoided all the confusion by saying that in the first place, and I see on the website that the confusion has not been resolved. Bottom line is, Engineering and Arts & Sciences may have different requirements, so be sure to check. I think exceptions may be made on an individual basis, so if you have very high scores, it is worth a call to the registrar for the school you are entering. Good luck.

Thank you so much. I will check w/ the CAS.

Hey, are any of you going to the open house on the 14th?

sry, i am not going. have fun there!

I probably will be on the 14th

Hey...how soon after you guys sent in your deposits could you get a VUnet username/email address/etc?
