Incoming High School Freshman.

Insert overused greeting here, I'm currently an extremely ambitious 8th grade student who wants to make my approaching high school career the most effective and efficient in order to get into a selective college/university. I created this thread in hopes of getting some SPECIFIC advice/tips on high school. Yes, i know i need to have plenty of extracurriculars, prepare for SAT's, study hard, stand out but I would really appreciate it if you got into specifics. For example, which extracurriculars would be most beneficial when viewed by college admission, which classes you would recommend, which AP courses to take etc. Basically, anything to help me improve and whatnot.

Freshman course of study -

Algebra II Honors
English I Honors
AP Biology* (Depends on whether or not I'm taking Bio Hon. in the summer)
AP Human Geography
Spanish I
Elective (Thinking about Psychology)
Elective (Any recommendations?)

Don’t you need a physical education requirement to graduate?

Anything to help you improve? Take it easy. Freshman year barely counts as long as you keep the grades up. Your perspective will take multiple 180 degree turns by the time you graduate so just stop thinking about college for a year. Get involved in things that actually interest you. You don’t need to do a ton of stuff, just some stuff that you are really involved with and have a passion for.

enjoy it bro

what’s your ECs look like and ill help you with that

honestly, take it easy. you really don’t have to take more than one AP (if any) in your freshman year, even for an ivy. take the time you have in your freshman year to really commit to an EC - a sport, an art, or a club or something. don’t get too caught up in the “omg i must get into an ivy league!!111!!” thing.
