I sent in a college application and SAT scores via Internet on Aug. 8th and told the guidance counselor to hand in my transcripts on the same day. It is now Aug 26th and my high school transcripts have not been sent to the college!! I was thinking about applying to some more colleges after I visit them in the fall, but I'm afraid that this will happen again. Is anyone else having these problems with counselors?

My counselors have been 100% incompetent... they don't help with anything, and IF anything, they make matters worse.

Aren't college transcripts supposed to be sent out by late October/ early November at the earliest (for ED)? I don't get why you're worrying about it now, as it appears to me that they may just be waiting a little bit.

I think reminding them may be the only thing you can do.

well... it wasn't during the school year, I would expect them to act more professionally after school starts. Not that that's any excuse.

edit: I didn't start school yet so I didn't take into account the possibility that you might have.

college counselors letter of rec is as important as your teachers in many cases, so uh... I would just be patient, stick it out, and stay in your counselors good books with politeness, while making it clear that you need certain things done for your future. Yes, mine are incompetent as well. They take over a week to respond to simple emails, like "will their be people from Yale at X college fair" and stuff, and my friends at other schools say their couselors are snapsnap same day responses.

oh well, I was just using this as a place to vent. I feel for anyone else who is anxious about their application process. It'll all work out eventually.

come on, college counselors are human beings too. why can't they slack off a little during the summer.
give him/her a break.

i'm sure your counselor will come through. well, duh. it's their job.
