Hey guys. I received an email from Tufts yesterday saying that they have not received my teacher rec. However, my teacher swears that she sent it out in early December and has the mailing date documented. We faxed it in today. Do you think that admissions will look down on me as an applicant or do you think they will be understanding? Chances are it got lost in the mail / admissions processing office.

This occurs frequently. Consider it an "occupational" hazard. No one will hold it against you.

What do you mean by "occupational hazard"?

It means that when you're probably looking at receiving a gazillion pieces of mail coming into one office, you are bound to misfile or lose a page or two along the way. Despite what those applying to college might think, those admission's offices are comprised of real human beings. At least their faces didn't look hinged when I've seen them. :)

The same thing happened to my D. They receive tens of thousands of pieces of paper, so some are bound to go astray. BTW, my D was accepted, so it didn't hurt her when it happened. I wouldn't worry. As Dan has said, they are not jerks.

You wouldn't have gotten the email if they didn't care enough to give you a fair look. No worries.

No worries. Tufts won't just throw away your application for that. It's all good. The school now has it.

Four years ago, Tufts called wanting to know if my son was still going to apply because they had his pre-ap but not his application. I pointed out that they cashed the check that was in the same envelope.

Anyhow it was solved with a fax. He will graduation from Tufts this May (w/ a very nice job :))
