Incorrect Essay Info

(I searched for this and didn't see it posted anywhere else. If it has already been discussed, I apologize.)

For the SAT essay, I realized after leaving that I wrote incorrect details about historical events in my essay. Like, BLATANTLY incorrect. Will I be penalized for this? Or are they only grading based on the overall quality of writing?

depends on whether the readers catch it. so the real question is how blatantly to them.

well, any reader with a basic understanding of current events would catch it… my bad!

yea, because part of the grading is about how u can support ur thesis and if ur info is wrong then it would be like any one can make up any fact just to support the topic

I spelt Bernie Medoff wrong my entire March essay- still got a 10. (spelt it Bernie Medolf)

It could be see as humorous.

You never know–how often was this?

“I spelt Bernie Medoff wrong my entire March essay- still got a 10. (spelt it Bernie Medolf)”

“Spelt” is a wheat used to feed livestock and its Bernie Madoff. Both of your spellings are wrong.

Most graders are not suppose to penalize you for incorrect information. There are some graders who will take off points but the purpose of the essay is to see how well you can form a thesis and write, not to grade you on how much you know about the topic. However, if you spell a word incorrectly, they might take off points.

Am I allowed to post specifics of examples I used or will collegeboard hunt me down and destroy all my hopes and dreams?

(On another note… did anyone else struggle writing that promise out in cursive? Haven’t used it in about 6 years. Took me a good 4 minutes to complete. So embarassing haha.)
