I'm a rising sophomore at Case Western Reserve University, and have a desire to transfer to Carleton after this year. I realize they only accept a few transfers a year and it is highly competitive, and thus my chances are slim to none.

I had applied at the end of this past year and was rejected, but I'm wondering if anyone has any pointers on transferring in general. While I like Case for the education, the social aspect and general student body has turned me off greatly.

Carleton seems like a great college, with a lot of open minded and interesting students, which really attracted me to the college.

Thanks

Hey!! I just transferred to Carleton College this year from Bucknell. I too, was rejected the first time, although applied ED that time. It was esp. weird for me, because when I was first going to apply, they said they weren't going to accept any. I was kind of sad, and gave up, and then sometime after the deadline i got this email that was like, "were you still gonna transfer? we need the following items from you: transcript, test scores, essay, application, etc." I filled it out and fabricated an essay out of my ass within a couple of days and ended up getting in. Couldn't believe it. Anyway, considering Case is about on-par with Bucknell academically/selectively, whatever...if you have good grades and a compelling reason to transfer to carleton in your essay, i think your chance is pretty good. I think you also need to highlight what makes you unique and thus adding to the student body somehow. PM me if you want to know more about my story, or about it or whatever. I leave for campus this friday, and i'm super excited to go down therre. PS- my ex-boyfriend went to case. just thought i'd mention it. kinda random.
