Increasing Chances?

Hey I don't want to be chanced, but instead I have a question. My dream school is CalTech, and I know it's a longshot for anybody, but could I increase my chances with recommendations. My physics teacher is a Caltech graduate and he said he could write me a letter. Would this increase my chances? Or would I look like a suckup? Thanks for any advice.

You need it

Definitely NOT a suckup. colleges love alumni recommendations. Its also very helpful that he teaches physics considering your college of choice is more math/science focused. I would be sure to build a strong relationship with your math teacher as well and see if you can get a recommendation from him/her. best of luck

Toaster what do you mean? They require recommendations and I don’t see anything about them being from CalTech staff or alumni?

Oh, sorry I misunderstood. I agree with nnocnat2
