Hello, I'm a freshman in high school right now, I'm very serious about academics and I'm trying to find things to do in my high school years that I'll be dedicated to and that will help my chances for colleges in the future. I just found this forum (this is my first post), so sorry if put this in the wrong section. I'm an always 4.0 student that is very into computers and technology. I really want to get into a good school for Computer Science but I know how competitive it is and I'm here looking for help about things that will help my chances (the only thing I'm doing right now is baseball and I'll be in NHS in the future, but that's all I can think of). I'm talking to my counselor about getting our school involved in Mu Alpha Theta and other honor societies because we have none so far, but there are no clubs or events or anything that involves my love for technology at my school and I don't know how to start anything. I'm really stressed about colleges in the future and if someone could give me advice about ECs and other things I can do, it would be much appreciated.

Calm yourself freshie. Your on the right track in terms of extracurricular activities. If there are no technology oriented clubs then make one. And possibly enter into programming competitions (not sure if that’s a thing I’m a pre-med guy). Usually you need an advisor and a room ask your counselor for specifics.

Thank you for the advice. I just looked up some competitions but they’re all for juniors/seniors. I guess I can just focus on school right now and look into ECs a little later. I’m just worried that I will waste a lot of time that I won’t be able to get back. I’m doing a ton of community service (I volunteer at a nursing home and one of my neighbors is a big member in the community who usually asks me if I want to help him with projects) so at least I’m doing something.
