Increasing my fin. aid award?

Is there a chance Drexel can increase my dean's scholarship a bit?
If yes, how can I do that?
If I proved to have better grades, or maybe if I sent in my Mom's tax return..?
How do they even evaluate your scholarship??!

I’d like to know this too. I received an AJ scholarship for $19,500, but I’ve seen others with $24-28,000. Even a small increase in the award amount would greatly help!

I received only a $10G…
A tip for u would be: apply at those little scholarships that offer $5,000…there’s a plenty of them.

I just called today.
They said NO, NO MORE SCHOLARSHIP MONEY WHATSOEVER

I formally requested additional scholarship funds and appealed my need based aid based on high medical expenses for 2011. They denied both. Unfortunately I will not be going to Drexel.

^ that is really unfortunate !!
There is a plenty of private scholarships out there. And how about loans?
I still got $25G that I have NO IDEA how I’m gonna get but I have not given up, and will not do that until I have consumed every single option available !!
Don’t give up that easily. It’s your education here you’re talking about, not an expensive shirt at the store that u simply think is not worth it !

If you can, e-mail them and ask for the info for the appeals process.
Unless they’re seriously out of money to give out, they should send you a PDF explaining it.
It helps to have extenuating circumstances (i.e. lots of medical bills, a one-income household, etc.)
It also helps to have good stats and to write the letter yourself!
If you have all those things and they still are able to add, you could get more.
I appealed and they added to mine.

I applied and lawyer fees and other things gave me an extra $7,500. basically my dad and I each wrote our own statements (about 1.5 pages double-spaced each, if that matters) and included supporting documents. I also said in my statements that I got scholarships from other schools and included the scholarship papers in the packet. We faxed the whole thing on a monday and we received the new letter the following friday.

zedsdead: So it took only a few days to hear back? Was it via mail or e-mail?

yeah it took 4 days. and it was via mail

for me it took a week and a half, and it was done through mail and the updated portal (I faxed them my things).

I’m still waiting (after 2 weeks) for the mailed response. The numbers on our portal have not been updated, so I’m guessing that means our appeal was denied.
