So I took the MAY SAT, first time.
Apparently I got a 600 with an 8 essay. The essay, I guess is fair, b/c it lacked quality but my goal was to fill up all 2 pages, which I did. But I still got 8. I know what to do next time with the essay.

The MC, however, is like dubya tee eff - 61.

these are my ranges for the MC section of Writing with the BB practice tests

59-69
MC: 51-61
58-68
MC: 61-71
MC: 60-70

What is the most effective way to raise my writing score? I know this is the most coachable area, so I plan to use this to my advantage. This what I have in my arsenal:

Blue book, SAT online course, Kaplan writing, some Mcgraw Hill book, and Barron's 2400 (<-- whats good to use in there?)

I don't think you need all that. Take a practice test, and then see what mistakes you're making in the multiple-choice writing section. Then, if you honestly don't know why the answer you got was wrong and why the right one was right, nicely ask your English teacher if he/she would be willing to go over your mistakes over lunch sometime. The thing is, you don't need to relearn everything--you just need to examine what you got wrong and then learn the grammar that you need so that you don't make the same mistakes again. Once you learn the grammar (hopefully your English teacher will help; if not, you could consult a grammar book), it's just a matter of practice. So why are you looking at all those books when what you need is to learn more grammar? Good luck!

3) Identify where you made errors and go over why you got a question right or wrong (I'd get the testmasters answer book because just seeing what the answer was isn't enough). They test on the same stuff over and over.

For the essay (rocket review is excellent for this): Basically fill up the space, write a solid intro and closing, indent clearly; and take examples from books you've read, your history class, current events. Try to stay away from personal examples if at all possible, it's challenging to make that work in your favor most of the time but more to power to those able to get high scores with that.
