Ok, so I have been scoring around the lower 700s and higher 600s for a quite a while, and I notice that a lot of questions I miss are in the 2- Long - passages reading sections. Those sections contain most of the inferences questions, which take a lot of time. I try to quickly read the passage in order to have more time for questions. But the inference questions require to locate something specific in the passage and relate it to a more general topic from the different point of view. Then I have to read a lot of specifics again. So I decide to read the passage carefully, but this time I don’t have time to answer the questions properly. Please Help!!! Could anyone give me tips on tackling these 2-long passage reading sections in SPEED and accuracy? They are really weighing down my score and self esteem in the critical reading section.
Be super vigilant. You can do that by convincing your self that you are interested in what the passage has to say. Also, take about 10sec after each paragraph to ask your self “what did I just read about?”. Don’t slow your pace. Even if you do finish with some time left, use it to revise.
listen to the sanic hedgehog theme song. that will make you go very fsat.
The best way to increase speed is to master vocab completely. If you really know your words, 8 sentcoms should take no longer than 90 seconds, but if you have to try to remember words or use POE to solve sentcoms, you may take upwards of 4 minutes. That’s easy time to shave off, and those minutes come in handy.
