Incredibly Average Aspiring English Major - Chance & School Recommendations?

Objective

Statistics

* GPA: ~3.2 (out of 4.0)
* Rank: 11%, or top 20%
* SAT: 1860/2400, CR: 760, M: 500, W: 600
* SAT II: Haven't taken yet, but I figure that, by the time I do, it might be too late for a chancing thread.

Classes

* College Level: 2 History courses
* AP: English
* Honors: English (2- no Honors offered freshman year), Math (3), History (3), Science (3)
* Regular: English, Spanish (3), Math 12, Physics
* Apart from AP Spanish, which I wouldn't be able to handle, and Pre-Cal, which I'll be taking next semester, I'm taking the most challenging classes my school offers.

Subjective

Personal

* Applying for Financial Aid?: Yes
* Intended Major: Creative Writing, though I'd settle for a stellar English program with a CW concentration; also interested in Gender & Sexuality Studies and International Relations, but I'm not looking so deeply into that as I am the English programs
* State: NY
* School Type: Small, Parochial - ~500 students total?
* Ethnicity: African American
* Gender: F
* Income Bracket: <$30,000
* Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Underrepresented minority

Extracurricular Activities and Organizations

* Junior National Honor Society
* National Honor Society
* Student Council: 4 years. Vice President.
* Global Awareness Club: 4 years, last 3 as Vice President. Founding member.
* Newspaper: 3 years. Writer, Editor.
* Tutor: 2 years. Invitation-only.
* McGraw Hill Group: 1 year. Project Manager. Group won Most Creative Proposal.
* Community Service and Volunteer Work: ~100 hours.
* Track & Field: 1 year.
* Prom Committee: Including only because I hope it shows my school spirit and leadership.

Work Experience and Internships

* Work Study: Doesn't quite count as a job, but I work at the school as the assistant in the Development Office to pay off my tuition.
* Internship: I've been an intern this past semester at an elementary school where I offer extra help for the kids that need it in terms of reading skills.

Extra

* National Achievement Outstanding Participant

* Willing to consider any school, with the only request being that they're not in NYC. I'd just like to get away from it for four years.
* My main concern is that my application will read as incredibly weak. Which, judging by the rest of CC, it is, but there's got to be a college for everyone, right?

Endicott is supposed to be very nice and have a good creative writing program. Possibly look at bu/bc/northeastern

Hamilton could be a reach for you, possibly. Otherwise, consider BU and NE as matches.

Thanks! I’m actually looking into those schools as we speak. Any other takers?

I’d also like to add that I forgot to specify my rank, I’m either 11/12 of 65. I’m also pouring most of my interests into Coe College and Hollins University, though obviously for different reasons, and would like to know whether the general consensus is that these are reaches or matches for me? Specifically, how much of reaches/matches would they be?

Definitely look into Northeastern. Also take a look at Skidmore, Elon (NC), Rhodes College (TN), Syracuse, Michigan State, and UVermont.

You have an excellent shot at all of the schools above; terrific EC’s, solid SAT, and pretty decent GPA. As for Coe and Hollins, don’t know much about the two, but reasonably expect to get in

Hope this helps!! Plz Chance Me Back… on the 2.0 thread!
