INCREDIBLY DEPRESSED...what do I do?

Today I was contemplating and analyzing my financial expenses for next year at UCI.
Total Cost to attend will be around 24K for a whole year which will include tuition, room, board, books, food, housing, etc.

I have 4K saved in scholarships.
I do not qualify for FAFSA because of a residence/immigration issue I have right now. I'll have full residency next year.
I am working part time but I'll only be able to make 2K-3K.
I am applying for 28 scholarships that range from 500 dollars to 3K
My parents won't be able to pay for much until next year
and

I'm getting more nervous about my expenses and it's possible I may require to get a loan.
My questions are:

-Should I even go to college with this much issue?
-Can UCI Financial Aid help me out even without FAFSA?
-What can I do to get less in financial debt (loans)

Any other info would be greatly appreciated

UCI? go to community college then transfer if you cant afford it (serious)

you could always kill yourself

If worse comes to worse, a student loan must be taken.

Try and ask UCI financial aid to see if you can still get money, and apply to many other scholarships!

I do believer money should never be an issue for education, but in the state of the economy right now, many have opted to go to CC instead of a 4 year uni this year. Many of my friends have chosen this route, and among them the brightest students also.

Don’t give up, keep working and hope to heaven that there will be money given to you. I’m also at this state, but I qualify for FAFSA, I wish I could do something to help you.

Hope you win ALL those scholarships! You need it!

^ thanks guys, NO I WILL NOT KILL MYSELF, lol

I have 4K in scholarships right now+2K from current job until June

And in the summer a friend got me a sweet job in Laguna that I’ll be making 4K-5K from June-August.
that’ll be like 10-11K

SO I need 14K to be good

I think I can make 10K in scholarships out of the 30 scholarships I’m applying
And next year I’ll qualify for FAFSA

Ummm, I may have to take a 4K loan
any loan info?

You can always do private tutoring as I am doing now!

I got the job after posting on craigslist :)

I have three clients.

Client 1: I charge 30$ per hour. 6th grader.

Client 2: I charge 50$per hour. 7th and 8th grader.

Client 3: I charge 25$ per hour. 5th grader.

So if you take into account I do not get taxed, and I tutor them all 4 times a week for an average of 6-7 hours a week, you get the picture of how much I can make.

It’s an easy job if you are smart. Fun to do with friends.

^ Wow

What do u tutor in?

I’m pro at Spanish and I’m was a spanish tutor in school (non-profit, community service) for high school kids.

Wow, I’m gonna check into that!
thanks!

I really would go with the loans- and this is coming from someone who doesn’t think being in debt is good either, lol. Student Loans are made for this reason. They know money doesn’t poof into the air for college just because you turn 18. You should be able to get a decent paying job out of college, so you shouldn’t have to worry too much about paying it off, especially since it sounds like you will only need the additional help for your freshman year.

You’re doing everything you can with Scholarships. Props.

Community College is also a good idea, and if it makes you feel better, go to a top notch one. This way when you transfer they will see that you didn’t go there just because you couldn’t get in anywhere else. Besides, it only matters where you end up getting your degree from.

^ Any low-interest rate loans? I’m looking for a 10K loan at the moment.

You have 4k in scholarships. I have 0.

^ Let’s apply to an insane number of them :P

If you’re female and over 18 you should consider stripping. You’ll make 20k in a month no joke (if you’re working full time).

Otherwise there is always the option of going to a community college until you get residency status in order to qualify for financial aid. Since you’re an immigrant as well there should be more then enough scholarships for you.

4K in student loans is not unreasonable. You’re doing great!!
