Definitely call UCI. See if you can get an appointment to go talk to them (i'm assuming you live nearby.)
I'm not sure they'll be open tomorrow because the campus is currently on spring break, but next week they'll be there.

Despite being on Spring Break right now, I believe most of the administrative offices are still open.

^ I shall call today and discuss matter with family.
I think I may have a job interview today too.

Hey -

Just from a parent's perspective, it sure sounds like you should just go for it - especially if you're only looking at a $10k loan. You'll lose almost that much in scholarship alone if you go to a CC - and you'll miss out on 2 full years of the UCI experience. You've been so psyched for UCI that you deserve to enjoy it so just make it happen.

In reality, graduating with ONLY $10k in debt is a blessing - easily paid back with the much higher salary you'll earn once you graduate. My son will be $30k-$40k in debt and I cannot imagine advising him NOT to go to a prestigious UC like UCI. Even that much debt is a VERY SMALL investment given the huge return you get with a college degree.

And go 4 years - fully embrace the experience and live the dream. Focus on enjoying the moment - you've definitely earned it - the small loans you're talking about are easy enough to manage later.

i agree with kadude, you should really go for it haiku.
just get loans and figure out a way to pay them off later when you have a kicka** job. :)
that's what i'm doing! lol
