Indepedent Status Yet?

Hello, I have been looking over the requirements for aid and I'm hoping you can verify my conclusions here. Thanks!

I was born 12/28/1991, so I meet the age requirement for dependence starting next year as I will be turning 24 next year.
I went to college for two years, no help from parents. While my EFC was based on my parents income, they still wanted me to be "on my own" so I took out loans that I'm currently paying off with odd jobs, playing music, etc.

I lived on my own on and off for a while renting rooms but ended up back in my Dad's house this year. I was hoping that since I'm turning 24 next year I'll be eligible for independent status and hopefully get back in school with a lower EFC when I apply for FAFSA on Jan, 1st. My income will be below 6,000 this year and I will continue to work while back in school but I am hoping that I am correct in my prediction that I will be able to claim independence and receive more aid than before.

Can someone verify my conclusion please? And if it is incorrect I would like to know why.

Thanks!

You must be born before 1/1/91 to be considered independent due to age for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Unfortunately, you will need your dad’s income info for this year. If you wait another year, you will not. If you intend to apply in January 2015 for the 2015-2016 academic year, yes - you will be independent.

Thank you!! Yes, I have postponed my education until the 2015-2016 academic year for this. That will be when I start back.
