Does anyone here use this plan for college savings? How have your experiences been so far?

(This is NOT one of the State 529 Savings Plans. This is the plan that allows you to lock in future tuition rates at one of the participating, mostly private, colleges nationwide.)

We have 529 plans for our kids, but not the pre-paid tuition type. The plans we have are college savings plans. Ours have no tuition locks, no state guarantees and are subject to market risk, but do have the advantage of tax-exempt earnings. We are happy with them... performing very well...better than expected. We kind of overloaded the oldest's plan because any unexpended funds can be transferred, without penalty, to the youngest (or any family member) for college expenses.

Can't offer an opinion on the pre-paid plans. The Texas Tomorrow Fund offered a prepaid tuition plan for a while, but no longer.
