Independent Status Transfer EFC=0, Help?

Long time troll to these forums, first time poster.

Facts:
Interested in transferring as early as Spring 2010
Independent Financial Aid Status - Parents deceased, living with grandparents.
3.76 GPA with 50ish credits at MA Comm. Coll. (Business Major)
EFC=0 according to FAFSA

I haven't found much info on here about transfer OR EFC=0 financial aid, I'm interested in knowing if there are any schools that are top 75 business schools with great financial aid packages given my situation? Most applications are due this coming November 1st and I'd like apply to some schools with a good record of being generous to my situation.

Since I am independent status, I could possibly qualify for in-state situation, right?

Clearly this is a little irrelevant as deadlines have passed but Im coming from a MA CC as well.

Commonwealth Transfer Compact Agreement. I think they just renamed it to something else but essentially if you complete your program with a specific GPA, theyll give you specific benefits. 33% tuition, 100% of tuition, etc. State schools only and for example, I looked at UMass Amherst (business) and their tuition was something like five grand a year. The rest are ‘fees’. So the percentages are misleading.

That being said, there’s tons of merit and need based grants for Mass residents. Look through the form.

No…their instate tuition for the 2009-2010 school year is $5866 per SEMESTER…that’s $11,732 per year. And that doesn’t include room and board.

How long have you lived in MA? That will be your acid test. Even for independent students, you must reside in the state for a year prior to your enrollment in college.

Oh. Thats better. Twelve grand. And I know for a fact UMass was 100% with a 3.5.

100% with what?? Acceptances? UMass is NOT 100% for financial aid purposes.

People make this mistake all the time…they look at the COA or tuition page and they don’t see the “per semester” or “per quarter” titles.
