Independent student?

I am 24, so an independent student for financial aid purposes. Is there any reason to include my parents info on fafsa?

I didn't do it, but now I fear it will effect my eligibility for cal grant, or university grants at UCSD. Is there any truth to that? Or is family income just pushed over to my personal income since I am independent?

I filled out my fafsa January 1st, is it worth going back to put the parent's info? And now it will show I've missed the priority deadline, which is 3/2?

Thanks for you help

You are independent for financial aid purposes, so your parent info is not considered for federal need based aid. I am 99.9999% sure CA doesn’t require parent info for their programs (for an independent student, that is).

I can confirm 100% for sure that parent info is not required for independent students in California :)

The income and asset ceilings for Cal Grant are just significantly lower for independent students without a dependent other than a spouse, though.
