India Class of 2015 Results Thread (RD)

IML, gettit from emoticon list. Btw, ani had mentioned ur initials on tit 18 v 2 once. This still doesn’t save tippu’s neck though. I’ll let u figure out why.

My friend got waitlisted too! This is so ridiculous, they’re waitlisting a lot of amazing applicants!
A little aside on MIT: one of my friends from school got in this year. I think MIT likes our school, because they seem to accept someone every other year (last year no one applied). It’s funny, because the guy who got in this year is following the legacy of the other two people who went from our school in 2005 and 2009 respectively. They were Dutch brothers who both played volleyball, and the guy who got in this year is Dutch and plays volleyball too! Guess they like our Varsity volleyball players :p

Hey.
No, no aid.
My scores are lower than all your worst scores combined.
It’s just me and my guitars and the endless possibilities.

I’m sure your scores weren’t that bad. Besides, you don’t know our worst scores do you? If you did you wouldn’t make that statement.
Did you submit a Music supplement?

Another waitlisted U of C applicant joining the ranks…!

Wow, after a Cornell defer and a U of C waitlist,I feel doomed to the second position!

But then yeah, intl student asking for loads of aid is anyway a very difficult proposition!
:(

^sorry to hear that. Chicago seems to have waitlisted a lot of people this time. Either that, or all the waitlists seem to be cc’ers. Seeing the time i spent on cc on my phone this morning, I’ll never graduate if this goes on for every decision that’s out before exams end. I wish i had my laptop already, nemooo i haven’t forgotten!

So, they are following the - we-are-too-nice-to-say-a-no-on-your-face!
Heck, I’d prefer being rejected…

Are you planning to remain on the waitlist, perfectpixie?
Sigh, Chicago was such a dream!

^I dunno. If I get into another of my top choices then there’s little point taking up another potential’s space right?

I just came to know that I’m admitted to Mount Holyoke College as a 21st Century Scholar ($25,000 per yr). Rest is covered with need based aid, work-study and quite a minor loan. Happy, although it was a near safety. It’s a great school!
I love how we girls can keep great womens colleges as safeties because they’re single sex.
Anyone who remembers how I keep shifting my loyalties b/w MHC and Smith might be interested to know that my loyalties again lie with Smith. Atleast this week. Pff, I still prefer Core curriculum over Open Curriculum though.

And YES Desperado, MHC is out!!

Congratulations Pixie!!! That is fabulous news, I knew you’d make it to MHC! :D

^Yeeesh! It’s funny how I generally have a “feeling” about what lies inside the link containing my decision. I bet everyone has that though, nothing special.

I is working on yer PMs right now.

Congrats pixie! :D

Hey everyone! I saw someone asking for stats, so I thought I should post 'em.
SAT I- 2160 (M-790, CR-690, W-680, E-8 short of time for the essay)
SAT II- Phy- 800, Math 2- 800
Grade 10- 4.0, 95%, Rank 1 (CBSE)
IB Diploma- 40/42 in grade 11, 44/45 predicted
ECs- Head boy, Editor of school magazine, Global Citizens Scholarship finalist (top 20 all India), math tutor in an orphanage, debtor etc…
Common app essay was, acc to me and others who read it, awesome.
Teacher recs were good too.
Decisions so far- Rejected by MIT and UChicago. I didn’t put much effort into MIT’s app, as they don’t use the CA and I had to write essays all over again. The same goes for UChic; who’s gonna write 3 extra stand-out essays? Besides, I applied for full-aid… Haha, I know… Despite these 2 rejections, I am extremely optimistic about other decisions, because I have an immense will to do something for the people of this world. And I never lose hope.
Congratulations to all who got into great schools in EA and RD. I hope some good news is waiting for me.
P.S- I also applied to the U.K and was pooled (a.k.a wait listed) by Cambridge, then rejected. I am still waiting on LSE. I have an offer from UCL. But I don’t think I can afford it. Moreover, the liberal arts system entices me
I am from Nagpur, Maharashtra. Hello everyone again! Can we be friends?

Oh,heck , I so rue closing my computer after the Chicago debacle! Yes!!!
MHC!
Holyoke!!!
And I have a leadership award plus six or seven other grants!!! YIPEEE! A minor loan here as well!

High five pixie

Congrats Pixie!! :)

The scholarship and aid make MHC an excellent safety!

Good to see the accetances rolling in guys! The Hindustani thread is basically going to become TiT, hence #20. Waitlist? Oh well. Better than rejection by all means… Congrats pixie! Safety’s in the bag :-D

@perfectpixie
Congratulations.

Just to allay some of your frayed nerves, let me tell you that only 2 Indians schooled in India got into MIT this year (from Delhi and Bangalore respectively). Here’s the shocker, one of these 2 guys was rejected by UChicago. Reason: he needed full aid. So not much good news from MIT. Maybe they’ll accept some more Indians of the wait list.
Congratulations “perfectpixie” and “desperado28”. LACs offer a great educational experience! ;)

I’m sure they do, especially since none of us have actually studied in an LAC yet.

On MIT, one got in from Kolkata too. Indian born and bred. International Olympiad medalist 3 years in a row since 10th grade.

^ Are you talking about a rather famous student of ****jee?? I don’t know about three years, but I am sure of at least last year… ( And the hullabaloo! Not likely to forget!)
But he deserves it, absolutely!
