I think you have a very good chance in all the colleges try and contact the tennis coaches Pm me your name.I think I may know you
@ind1900 as for your chances, despite your slightly low scores, the colleges you have applied to are all comparatively easy to get into…so you should get into most of your colleges

Chances??
@michaelite Your stats are pretty phenomenal! But so are the universities you’re applying to.
You’re pretty much in at Purdue, UIUC and perhaps even Georgia Tech. According to me, your chances are great at UMich, UCLA , UT Austin, Cornell, Darthmouth ( although cant say for sure about the ivies, public universities tend to accept more internationals for out of state tuition)
As is the case for everyone, nothing can be said about your chances at Stanford, Harvard, Caltech or Brown. But your sports history might prove to be a hook for some of the schools. FIITJEE rankings wont be taken seriously IMO.
Great set of universities though!

Intended major: Mechanical engineering with a minor in CS.
Financial aid: MIT and Cornell. Can afford others for two years.
Colleges applying to:
1)MIT
2)Cornell
3)UIUC
4)UCB
5)UCLA
6)Purdue(Accepted)
7)PennState(Accepted, have applied for SHC)
8)UT, Austin
9)Georgia Tech.
@fbhsfhthj I am sorry but I think you have very little chance at MIT, some, but still low chance at Cornell, decent shot at UIUC, ok shot at UCLA and UCB…UT Austin might be possible while Georgia Tech would be tough
@sjaayush You might get into UW Madison and Georgia Teach ( though the odds aren’t very high, in my opinion)…you should surely get into Virginia Tech and UMass Amherst…I don’t know about the others…your EC’s are slightly weak, though your grades and scores are quite upto the mark
@michaelite I graduated from a fairly obscure high school. Its actually not even listed in any of the lists ( SAT, ETS, CommonApp). So extra curricular opportunities were quite limited. I have mentioned this in my app. I’m currently in my gap year and have a really good story around it, so my personal statement is quite amazing (if I may say so myself :P).
I’m dead set on Wisconsin as my first choice, as my SAT is well above their 75th percentile: 2070, I thought that I would definitely be very competitive. I’m aware that my chances at Ga Tech are quite slim, had to try though
Any thoughts/suggestions?
@sjaayush I can’t predict anything for certain, but you are a very competitive applicant for most colleges on your list…All the best…
@michaelite Yeah I am aware of my extremely slim chances And I don’t think I’ll be able to afford most of the colleges. So mostly I’m going to stick to Purdue. You are an extremely competitive applicant though. All the best!
@fbhsfhthj Can you retake your SAT I? 1990 is quite low for most, if not all, of the universities youre targeting. They place a much higher emphasis on your SAT I. Try to shoot for atleast a 2100 and you’re probably into UIUC and maybe Cornell too. With a higher SAT, you have a pretty good shot at UCLA too, as UCs are facing budget cuts and are trying to accept more international students who pay full tuition.
@fbhsfhthj Not to be discouraging, but, in my opinion, you should not apply to MIT, you will not be a competitive applicant. Around 500 people apply to MIT from India and less than 5 get in. Those students have close to perfect test scores, academics, international olympiads, have been start up founders, etc etc. And the bar is even higher for students seeking financial aid.
