Indian 2019 Chance Thread

@ronakice‌ I had exactly the same problem ( Diarrhoea actually) when I retook it. But luckily I raised my super score by 90 marks to 2230 as I did well on writing…Though I scored horrendously low on the others. Lucky I guess.

BUMP…

If you don’t ask for FA many are willing to accept with a good score and decent EAs. After all, they want full tuition from some students. Many schools have need-aware selection process. Only the Ivys are need-blind for internationals, all others look at your FA needs before they accept you, whatever your scores are.

How did you qualify for ISEF if you have already graduated from high school? The rules state that you must still be in HS?

SAT I scores are too low for most of the schools you listed except GaTech, UCB and Northwestern.

Receiving venture capital money is no easy task. This is where you should focus your application on.

Colleges applying to:I have no idea some say you won’t get into any national university some say you can get universities like UIUC with your intended aid.Why don’t you guys suggest me a little.I know My need for aid is gonna be a problem. Please do chance.

@DarkL0rd You can get into UIUC and Purdue and several other state universities with those stats, but the problem is they don’t offer scholarships to internationals. Google " US colleges offering need-based aid to internationals" and you will find something worthwhile. Hit me up if you need any further advise. Also, finish all the online courses and get certificates for them and launch the Android App before applying. Can only help. . All the best.

@michaelite How did the admissions season go for you? Acceptances, Rejections, Waitlists? Which college are you attending this fall?

@michaelite Thank’s for replying…I did the search and it turns out that there aren’t very good national universities that offer need-based admission…What do you think of my chances at UMich(pretty low , I guess) , Brown University, Boston University, University of Minnesota, University of Texas at Austin(also pretty low)…Some of the whose Computer Engineering Course’s I found good…And I don’t wanna go to an LAC because they don’t offer Computer Engineering Courses …Was wondering If you could compile me a list…It would be a great help…

@mumbai98 Purdue mate. Is the cheapest and the best option I have. Didn’t get any scholarships anywhere for some reason. Guess CS was too competitive this time around. And whats up with you?

@michaelite I’m applying this year. Got done with my SATs and everything. Focussing on boards, olympiads and essays now

BTW, can you help me out with my college list?

@mumbai98 Cool man. Keep me posted. Might not be very active on CC these days, but if you have any problem, just message me.

@DarkL0rd On the contrary I think your chances at both UT Austin and UMich are decent. But neither has any scholarships for internationals. Aim for the LAC’s, like Harvey Mudd, Swarthmore and others. They have loads of scholarships and have decent engineering streams. I didn’t know this stuff when I applied. Infact Harvey Mudd has perhaps one the best and by far the highest paying CS department in the US. Its difficult to get in, but give it a try anyway.

@DarkL0rd Don’t jump on the band wagon and apply to all Ivy League colleges and Stanford and MIT and stuff. Be realistic. Apply to some top colleges, but not too many.

@mumbai98 Sure dude. PM me the colleges you are interested in. I will try to find out and help how ever I can and give my own suggestions.

@michaelite I know I am not Ivy-League material…That I am not even going to apply to those…I found this
http://www.finaid.umich.edu/Home/HowtoApplyforAid/NewProspectiveUndergraduates/NonresidentStudents.aspx

on UMich’s website…I don’t know what to make of it…Boston must be in match right…

@DarkL0rd Non resident means American not living in that state. There is no aid for internationals at Michigan in first year at least.

@michaelite Thanks for clearing that up…So what universities offer Computer Engineering as major…Please guys…help me out here…
