i love ur orphanaggg things. but in my personal and humble greeting opionion to u my friend is that u hav not takin many leadr ship (sail away!) roles. So it mite be a little wierd for u and ur buddies u kno?
but im sur drake and muhlnsburg wont care care care about that because in my personal lovelty opinion, u deserve better!!!!
cornell! look aout of my friend herr!
and 6 countires is like alot.
my friend says hey abc xyz!

i changed my mind. i'm coming to new zealand.

:D .

haha looks like somebody is really "drunk" on the new year man.

xyz, what college at cornell did u apply to? you seems to express interests in math & science---so engineering?

if engineering, why didn't you take sat II 2c?
your stats are competitive man, i think u have a shot.
how were your cornell essays?

hahah i can understand that..

im applying to CAS...i really didnt think not taking math2c would've been a big deal and thought i could score higher on math1c...will it make a difference?

I think my cornell essays were pretty good, especially "academic opportunities in your chosen college one." ill be glad to mail them to you if you want

and going for double major in econ and comp science

o m g im so sorry xyz!
i dont remember any of that so please ingnore that post.
is there any way to edit a post???

ok anyway, i think you got a good chance at cornell.
I think all colleges will be impressed at your 6 countries thing because i guess that is what makes ur essay better than everyone else who say that "they had a hard time adjusting to a new school, new culture, new everything blahblah blah because i moved around like THREE times."

Maths Ic and IIC are regarded the same for the level of difficulty - just different backgrounds of maths. But engineering is more into the whole IIC thing but I dont think it will matter tooooo much.

and as hello said, take out ur year 6,7,8 awards - unless like they are like national championship awards.

goodluck! and sorry about my last post

xyz...im doing the same double major, hoping to get into cornell, im indian 2. gdluck!

lol dont worry about it NoFX, happens to the best of us...

Hey XYZ i think you are a pretty strong applicant- competitive for a place at Cornell. However you seem to have chosen too many schools that you are so easily going to get into- too many safeties. I haven't even heard of half the colleges you are applying to so i'm sure they have a very very high admittance rate, like:

Grinnell College
The College of Wooster
Muhlenberg College
Worcester Polytechnic Institute
Lehigh University
Southwestern University
Beloit College

I think you should cut the above list in half and instead apply to more competitive, more prestigious and more internationally recognised schools. If you tell me what you are thinking of majoring in I can give you some good matching schools form which you can then decide if you like or not.

Cornell is great- an ivy league- need i say more

Uni of British Columbia and McGill are THE top unis in Canada and recognised internationally- you will definately get in one of those, probably both

The other unis that you are applying too that are not in my list above are also pretty good and i don't have n e doubt that you will get in.

So consider my advice n take 4 unis out of my list above and instead apply to better colleges that stand on the same level as you.

One more thing...make sure you write killer essays!!! i'm sure you will.

i think you may want to replace lehigh uni with drake uni in your list (lehigh's acceptance rate is 40% which is closer to cornell's and drake's is 83%).

sadly its too late to make any changes since its already the 1st of jan and most applications are due today, but if you do know any competitive colleges whos application deadlines have not passed, ill be glad and grateful to hear them!

thanks alot for your optimism, and happy new year

University of toronto & University of Waterloo are considered some of the best in Canada. The deadline is 1st of Feb for them.

wow, you are so balanced!!! I got like 200 points difference between my math and verbal you only got like 30. oh by the way, i don't know about IB, but u got like 36/42 in IB, my friend got 45 and got in to Columbia and Cornell and Northwestern, rejected by Harvard. But in the end, he went to University College in London. meh. so don't expect too much, admission process is way too random!!!

thanks for the info hello.

Newbyreborn, the total IB is out of 45 points (each subject is worth 7 points, and there are 3 "bonus" points you can recieve through the extended essay and TOK paper). My grades do not include the bonus points (I think I would recieve 2 bonus points). But yeah, its impossible for anyone to predict with 100% surety whether or not one is accepted at thet op unis.

bump..anyone else?

i agree with liefde. apply to some more selective schools and dump a few safeties. I think you have a decent chance for cornell, and a really good shot for u of bc and mcgill. how about applying to a few more ivies?

thanks again for the positive comments. i guess i thought that i had below 50% chance of getting into cornell (which is generally easier to get into than other ivies, added to the fact that its computer science program is one of the best in the country), so there wasnt really any need to apply to other slightly more competative schools. oh well, ill hope for the best!
