Indian in North Carolina

Your math is a 720 which is pretty good... Blow out the Math sat II and I think your ok for engineering.
Regarding GC: bug them as often as you can and try to form a bond, they WILL help you out alot in your sec. school report, recs, and advice. Mabye at larger schools it is harder to have that reltionship idk though...
The last piece of advice is DO NOT underestimate your essay's importance, it CAN make the difference in gaining admission. Be yourself and UNIQUE, tell the college why they are perfect for you and what you will contribute. I think you will be competitive wherever you apply, except Princeton(sorry im just trying to be realistic). Good luck and def. apply to duke hopkins and cornell.

haha, thanks uvajoe, I know that I probably wont get into Princeton but funnier things have happened I guess. Thanks for your advice uvajoe, I will definately use it. Can anyone else answer my other questions regarding my ethinicity and major selection?

I would also like to add:
UPenn SEAS
Swarthmore
Michigan Ann-Arbor

Thanks

can anyone help me out?

Duke - reach
UNC-CH - probably in
Johns Hopkins - match/reach
NC State - in
Virginia Tech - in
Princeton - major reach
Cornell - reach
UPenn SEAS - major reach
Swarthmore - reach/major reach
Michigan Ann-Arbor - match

As a fellow Indian from NC, I wish you good luck!

How much of a reach is Duke? I am applying to Pratt.

Good luck to you too topper

Also, could anyone suggest LAC's or other schools that are a good fit for me?

I would appreciate it very much

as a fellow indian....good luck

also congrats on making Varsity Soccer...not very many indians make it into the teams..

good luck on ur apps

imo, I would say Duke is a little more of a reach than Cornell, but less than Princeton, etc.

I'm Swat '09, but some other LAC's I looked at last year were:

Carleton
Davidson
Haverford
Macalester
Grinnell
Kenyon
Dickinson

GL!

hey keep on reppin the desi style dude...as for ur colleges well im too lazy to read all that but im sure ull do fine :-D

topper, why did you choose a LAC and how do you think my chances look at Swat.

Other evaluations would be awesome

indians rock =p btw ive only talked to my guidance counselor once cuz she doesnt know ****, if u look at my post (jingle bells batman smells) she called like evrything a reach for me :(

I chose a LAC because I wanted a smaller school with that tight-knit atmosphere (you know, the one where you bond with your profs and you don't get "lost in the crowd"). I also liked the LAC environment because it's going to give me plenty of opportunities to explore ultimately what I want to major in, seeing as there are so many things that I'm interested in at this point.

I think you have as good a chance as anyone at Swat; your scores and grades are definitely good enough for you to be accepted. But I'm convinced that acceptance at Swat hinges significantly on the essays, so concentrate on those - rewrite them, have people edit them, be as coherent as possible and be yourself! Also - it never hurts to send in supplements that would distinguish you from every other applicant.

There's an Indian in North Carolina? I thought they were all over here in NJ or across the country in CA. ;)

I dunno, I'm not an authority. But those stats look good to me. Good luck

How hard is Ann Arbor out of state?
