My question is easy and straight that is IIT better than NYIT. I know the admission process of IIT and NYIT too. And personally I liked NYIT process because IIT just depends on one day performance. Just think, if one is not feeling good or he has any other major problem on test day then what?? IIT will reject him just by JEE scores. Don't think that I am saying this because I didn't get admission in IIT, I cracked IIT JEE 2013 (jee advance) but l left it because I believe IIT is focusing on academics, not on research like MIT, UC and some others do. Finally, give your opinion about both!

They’re not at all in the same league academically. IIT is >>>>>>>>>>>>> over NYIT. IIT is closer academically and in student caliber to MIT or CalTech, whereas NYIT is a second (or third) tier tech school near a big, vibrant city.

If iit is closer academically and in student caliber to mit, then why iit hold 150+ rank in world?

First there are tons of rankings and second those rankings aren’t sacred truth, they’re created with formulas that heavily favor having researchers who publish in Engish-speaking journals.
IIT isn’t a big research institution yet although in terms of educating engineers everyone who knows anything knows it’s top-notch. However the world rankings are not about undergraduate education but about research output (in English speaking media) and graduate/PHD education.

Means it is better than nyit in academic area, but nyit is better than iit in research!

<a href=“IIT vs. MIT - College Search & Selection - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/30575-iit-vs-mit.html

NYIT has a 66% admission rate and an 1120 average SAT. The caliber of student at each school is vastly different.

The schools are not peer schools. The only way they’re comparable is that both have Institute of Technology in their names. Other than that, they’re about as different as schools can be. Also, NYIT is not a research university, it’s a third tier regional school which does a bit of non engineering research, but is not in the same league as other NY research institutions.

Trying to compare the schools is just silly.

If comparing. Schoos is silly then how to select one to get in

Comparing schools isn’t silly.
Comparing a school for kids who can’t get in anywhere else with a school for top science students is silly.

Here are examples of valid comparisons:
Harvard vs. Dartmouth
UC Santa Cruz vs. UC San Diego
University of Oklahoma Honors Program vs. University of Tulsa

Here’s an example of a ridiculous comparison, one that no one would ever make:
Harvard University (one of the best institutions in the world) vs. Cal State University - Dominguez Hills (an awful school)

Asking which is better, IIT or NYIT is like asking which is more desirable, working 60 hrs a week at $8/hr at a job you hate, or working 40 hours a week making the equivalent of $300/hr at a job you love.

Anyways, this thread is useless.
