Indian post

How about starting an Indian Post? I invite all Indians to join and share their views on the issues and problems of Indians getting into US school.

Hmm, I wanted to, but I wasn't sure that people were still interested. Indian Post #11 was languishing on the older forums.

Anyway, I hope this will be a great #12!

So... any of the old people around? Cooldude, how come you were giving the Math IIC Oct 9 when you already had an 800 on that?

Motso, where are you from in India?

BTW, I'm so glad for the Dusshera Break, not much time left to work on the early applications. Don't know what's with me, I can only do stuff under pressure. Deadlines are pressure enough.

Great to see an Indian thread finally... was afraid I was the only one. Where in India are you guys from anyways? I'm from this really small town called Jamshedpur.

Where's everybody applying by the way? Anybody applying to Wharton (UPenn)? Oh and do they really put a lot of emphasis on your grades, cuz' I come from a place where they mark us really low, so its like a struggle to get above 60. And if you do, its kinda accepted that you're going to hit above a 92 in your boards. But, marks like that look like crap on your report, so how can you put that across to an adcom?

There was this girl called Rashmi from Jamshedpur last year, maybe you know her?

Yeah the strict checking they do really sucks. I think the best thing that can be done is to make sure your principal puts in something about how rigorous it is...

Are you in CBSE or ICSE?

Gosh you write beautifully! Visited your webpage

Oh... you know Rashmi? She was my senior. She's somewhere in the mid-west right now I think. I'm giving my ISC. What about you guys?

Well, I guess you're right. The only way is to beg the princy to write a really good explanation letter. Don't know if he'll do it though. He's pretty uncompromising. Oh well, hopefully they'll just look at the SAT marks. crosses fingers

Well, I'm glad you think I write well. confused But I've not even started on my site. Just, left it at the headings. LOL. Glad you liked it already.

Yeah, she's at Wooster. She used to be around these parts a lot.

I'm in a CBSE school. Something tells me they'll look at the class X board marks a lot more closely than the internal marks. I sure hope so :-/

And your site, yup, the first link worked.

And which parts are those exactly? I assumed she always went to Cal to give her SATs. That's where all of us go.

But there's nothing on my site yet. sheepish grin I just finished my exams today. Maybe I'll have a bit of free time now to update it. Hope they look at the class 10 marks. Although I had a really high fever during it, so I couldn't make a really good total. Just managed to reach 90. Hope that doesn't work against me.

hey Astrix, how were your SAT II's??

Like a sucker along with Writing I retook Physics and Math IIC (although i already got 800 on both), and i think i screwed up Physics and Writing.

btw i'm cooldude from the old CC

I think i'll have to take Writing in Nov (standby)

Haha.. you thought I meant she came by somewhere near I lived or something?? I meant like... she used to be on CC a lot

Me, I'm from Gurgaon, which is National Capital Region for you

Downtheway!! Just 90? That's sad :p I have like an 81. My school records are better that way. I don't know what happened in the boards. Maybe they didn't like my handwriting.

Hey cooldude!! Nice to have you back!

Hehe... that's crazy! Retaking 800's. Anyway, I hope the scores come out okay after all. My writing was pretty much okay, math was pretty good too and physics I screwed up. But still hoping physics can be a 700+. Let's see. Oct 22 is not too far now. Sucks waiting.

I kinda contradicted myself up there... but whatever

i know its stupid but i didnt have transport and i registered for 3 (Writing, chem and french) but chickened out.

Just hope i get a 700 on the writing.

Btw are u taking the SAT in Nov, Dec??
how are ur EA essays comin out, i have to start now :)

Yeah, I'm giving the SAT in Nov but most likely won't be giving anything in Dec. Depends on how I do in Phy. Frankly, I don't think I want to sit down to bubble in stuff for the fifth time this year :p

I'm such a lazy ass, I haven't started the essays. I want to do them these hols. Though God knows if I've ever done anything productive it's like the night before the deadline. I'm trying to mend my ways :-| Just finished with my exams in school and didn't do too well. Seriously, they shouldn't be so hard on us.

SAT I in Nov?? coz i'l be doing that and maybe Writing in Dec if I get less than 700.

Yup
1234567

LOL. My bad. So, you've been on this board since last year?! Wow! You really started thinking early about all this. And you're talking about waiting for deadlines? I started thinking about higher studies in the States seriously only in early August. I'd given my SAT I in Jan only cuz' there were others who were too, and I was like what the heck? I'll just join the bandwagon.

I'm really lazy too though. The only reason I'm not applying EA/ED is cuz' its just too much of an effort. I'm pretty sure I'm going to finish on all my applications only by December 15th. Oh well, here's to the good ol' procrastinators...

Nopes, since this year only actually. But feels like last year, since people have gone and all :p

^ what'd I have done on the SAT II writing with that kind of grammar
