You guys probably drove them off with your monumentally monotonous conversations :p

I'm an inherently dull person so I still stick around :D

"...with your monumentally monotonous conversations "
"I'm an inherently dull person so I still stick around "

then maybe we should have such have the operation and make it an 'all guys' thread... ;)

no, despite my dullness I'm still very girly. I cry at movies for cryin out loud! Oh and I like pink. And girltalk. And guys :)

i have a upenn interview tomorrow (the guy is a lawyer!! he will grill me alive!) how should i prep for it/ any questions i should expect...i dont have much time because of a stupid geometry test...thanks

My interviewer was Linda Hall.Nothing too unexpected however. She asked me for my views on Kashmir issue and I told her it was really hard to decide as both the sides have convincing arguments.I used good ol'd Laila here as an example of the Kashmir problem to illustrate that many Kashmiris want independence. She then asked me abt a refrendum,so I told her it was not practical, and gave her 3 good reasons for it.She told me that my viewpoint was really unique and seemed to agree with my line of thinking.

Tip for evryone, search on google university search for Interviewer guidelines and sample interview reports for Dartmouth and Yale.Thay have entire pages dedicated to these and are really helpful, even have sample interview questions, which btw, were the same ones that my interviewer asked

the last interview i had was really boring....the guy just asked...why/ where/ when/ how etc..basic questions, i hope this one is more interesting

wow! tht is very interesting. i would have thought tht most interviewers tend to avoid any type of political discussions, but its good to know tht such questions can be thrown out durin the interviews

thanks for the tip akash :)

Yeah I told her I liked Saddam Hussein.
Butshe raised political issues only bcoz I told her I was intersted in MUN and international affairs

well done future Yalie!! :)

Sample Questions

Open-ended questions give the candidates a chance to explain themselves and their experiences. Words that begin open-ended questions are:

* What, Why, How, Tell Me, Describe, Explain, Compare, and Contrast

You should avoid direct or closed-ended questions (i.e. questions that lead to a simple yes/no response). For example, avoid using these opening words:

* Should, Is, Did, Do, Could, Would, Will

Examples of good questions

* Tell me about your school: courses, teachers, favorite subject, worst subject?
* What are the strengths and weakness of your school?
* What is your overall evaluation of your high school experience?
* If you could change your high school experience, what changes would you make?
* What are your future plans: college, major, career?
* Compare your senior year to the rest of high school. What do you expect of your senior year?
* What is a highlight of your high school experience? Is there something that will stand out; something that you will always remember?
* In high school, what would you like to turn into an independent study? -- If you could take any subject and expand it, what would that subject be?
* What makes a good teacher?
* What would be your teachers' recollection of you if one of two of them sat down to discuss you a year from now?
* What is your favorite book? Is there a literary character with which you identify?
* Is there a project, paper, lab, etc. that you were especially proud of when you completed it?
* If you could get a national grant to research something, what would you want to study/research?

thx for the tip akash. any such guidelines for penn available anywhere??

No,but from what I heard, they pretty much go the same way
