astrix UoC is a good place, where you can have fun as well. i selected option 5 "any topic" of my choice and that way, I used my other essay. got the package from them this morning. pretty happy right now...

isn't their literature just gorgeous gushes yeah, i love chicago. and swarthmore. and princeton, well, which clearly doesn't want me :-|

you might want to be cautious about recycling some other essay tho... coz they like their weird ones. if your essay topic is similar to the chicago ones, then great, but they dont like recycling. i'm tempted too, but i know i'll just have to crank out something new for chicago.

astrix, 1 thing i would suggest is to pay close attention to your admission counsellor. Every UoC applicant gets a counsellor and they are VERY friendly. I must have had 10 'meaningful' email exchanges with mine, which was very helpful. I think that was 1 of the reason for me getting accepted - i would be very surprised if they did not remember me, when they saw my application.
As for essays - my essays were not 'too' weird but i still got in.. go figure...

wow... you're already in? and here i am telling you to reconsider the essay. thanks for the counselor tip. you applied EA? you musn't have applied for finaid then i guess.

edit: ooh. when you said you got your package i thought you meant the application packet. congratulations are in order :)

how do i find out who my counselor is?

thx astrix. once you apply, let me know who your counsellor is - i have talked/emailed with most of them and might be able to give you some insight on them.
good luck.

if u apply online - the name will appear on the top of your screen that says "Your admission counsellor is xxx xxx. Email me"

adides congrats on UOC...I absolutely love the place....I'm not applying there now because if they do admit me (which is unlikely) I will not be able to make a choice between harvard and UOC
Way to go...

ritz - thx a lot. U are so modest... :)
did you know that Harvard only admits <5 Indians in UG every year!!! With 1 seat already gone I am still hopefuly about my 4/200 chances ;)

2 seats gone.

ek mere liye hai. :D

btw, UoC = univ of california, or chicago? connecticut? colorado?

Cograts adides, thats great!
did you ask for aid?

mercurysquad - lets drawpick the four seats between CC Harvard EA applicants from India :)
UoC - University of Chicago

Cres, I did not ask for aid because i badly wanted to secure 1 coll. before i get onto aid. Now with UoC and Georgetown in the pocket, I am going to start asking aid for ne1 who gives it...
Please see the financial aid thread i started and share any insights that y'all have.
