how do you figure out the group 5 cation? They all have white ppts. So tossing the sample into the flame is actually more reliable.

Yes, for group 5 you gotta perform the tests (order BaSrCa if you remember!).

^ - yeah thats the order and I think its the ammonium sulphate test

"A 1600 is still a good thing to have. I was just reading through a book that said 100% of 1600's are accepted at Duke- yes, 100%- and 66% at Stanford, 80% at Dartmouth, likewise at most top schools, down to 53% at Harvard, and at Princeton a national low of 36%." - from what are my chances forum. ;) good luck sucha mwahahahah ;)

aaaargh! Princeton 36%!!! SP did I ever tell you how much I hate you?
But my interviewer did say that SAT is more important for intls. Hope thats true :(

yeah yeah...he just wanted to be nice to u...not to make u cry ;)

Thanks SP-why don't you just rip my heart out :(

Hey guys, I'm an Indian living in Australia and I will be attending Cornell next year. However, my cousin is planning to apply to cornell next year and he is torn between applying to the college of hotel administration and the school of industrial and labor relations to do their respective undergraduate programs. Both schools top the charts in their respective fields, but I would like to know what your opinions are on what the better/more respected program would be for an individual equally interested in both areas?

sorry guys, i just wanted to say that i really need some feedback on this issue, as i myself am unsure how to go about giving such advice :S

dont worry sucha...i'l do it if i become a surgeon...

I would strongly advocate AGAINST hotel managemet. it hardly gets you anywhere in the long-run. you really become a zero. I've noticed it with my friends and family, as i think its a worthless, useless course that wastes a precious life. There IS a glamour attached to hotel management, but it very quickly wears off if the applicant for a job doesnt have decent looks, etc. Nobody ever gets manageral positions for a looooong time. Industrial labour rel. is a great one. You are flexible to move about into dif. streams and not get stuck with just hotel management. if ur totally in love with hotels, by all means go for ILR, because u probably will be able to get a decent job after....just my 2cents.

Isn't Cornell's hotel management program in a class of its own, resulting in graduates being accelerated into top management positions?

yay!! I have my first interview next week :)

Its P'ton so callthecops (Since his P'ton interview rocked) what spell did you use on your interviewer ;)

SP I'm deeply wounded by your callousness and utter lack of sensiitivity :(

I think I'll go and have dinner. :(

vaib - that's the first 4 letters of my surname.

Ok, I don't have anything useful to say about your query (sorry) but you should also try posting on the Cornell forum.... they may be able to help you a lot :)

sucha....im in an evil mood these days...I hope ur food is poisoned so I have one less competitor... ;) jk...

Hello, its useful to be enthusiastic, and its VERY helpful to have a good accent. its unfortunate if u cant be ur normal self accent-wise, but it does help. my GC said that, and I could see the marked difference on my american interviewer from dartmouth. However, my pton interviewer was korean, so he cared less about the fluency and level of english.

also, when u are talking, talk about ur interests, and how u have used every opportunity available to its max. that makes a dif. Impress ur interviewer with your achievements, and show how ur weaknesses are reducing due to ur urge to succeed. - good luck!

good morning SP.....yawn nice tips... where were you in december? :p

gd mornin...first thing CC before breakfast? wow. ur more of an addict than me ;) where was i in dec?...stuck in this hell hole...

or am i missing the point?

Well Hotel Management in Cornell is in a class of its own. I would strongly recomend it. ILR is catching up but job wise hotel management is best option in the US.

vaib- first 4 letters of my brother's first name:)
