I heard that Indian Springs school is one of the best boarding schools in the southern part of the united States.
How great is it?

I've heard that it's one of the best private schools in the south.

I've never heard of it...I've also heard there are no really good prep schools in south (probably wrong, and people are probably going to get mad at me for saying that-especially since Jonathan just posted oppisite thing.)

They accept like 60% of their applicants, so I don't think that's too good, and their endowment is realativley small. Overall, to me it doesn't seem that great.

Plus are you looking for a school in the south? Why?

I didn't post the opposite thing. I said it's one of the best private schools in the south. I don't even think it really compares to schools like Andover, Exeter, Deerfield, SPS, etc.

well, for once you almost agreed with me! It's a miracle:D.

But realistically speaking not many schools do...I think it depends what you're looking for in a school. Because in my opinion Interlochen Arts Academy is the most awesome school on earth, but i'm sure many people would never even apply.

Iterlochen isn't that far from me. Four hours, maybe. I was probably within ten minutes of it when I went up to Traverse City last summer.

How'd you guys get so off topic?

If you are looking for a school in the south, The Asheville School in North Carolina is a great school. I would apply there but it is to close to home. LOL!

I believe Darlington is considered a good southern school.

If you're willing to go somewhere that is in Virginia without being a particularly southern school, consider Chatham Hall (girls) or Woodberry Forest School (boys). My AP US history class at CH had 3 northerners, 3 southerners, and a girl from the Philippines. It meant that issues of geographic privilege, class, and race were always at the forefront of our discussions--really an eye-opening experience for me at the time.

Salem Academy (girls) in NC also seems to send a fair number of people to good upper South schools like UNC and Duke, and I've heard it's in a very pretty area. I get the impression it's more regional in the students it draws.
