Indian Student - Suggestions + Chances?

Hey guys,

Just want to discuss some thing with you;

I am an Indian student from New Delhi.

Nationality; Well I am an American Citizen but been living in India for 12 years and am going to be getting an OCI from India in a few months.
SAT 1: 1710
SAT 2: Not taking

I have been studying in an ISC school since class 1.
My marks are as follows;
Class 9: 65%

Class 11: 65%
Class 12: 80-85% (predicted)
Those are all without maths and not counting my first term marks.

Participated in Model United Nations.

NOTE: Am putting up my photography portfolio in the coming days. I also have a blog.

Recommendations;

Can get three excellent recommendations (not a problem).

Where am I looking?

Well, I am looking at Liberal Arts Colleges in the USA. The East Coast is preferred but others are also fine.
NOTE: I am not applying for AID!

What are my chances here?

Duke
Sarah-Lawrence
Penn State
Franklin & Marshall
Skidmore College
Colgate University
University of Maryland
University of Virgina
University of Rochester
University of Wisconsin--Madison
University of Washington
George Washington University
Syracuse University
Connecticut College

What other colleges/type of colleges should I look at? Bring on the suggestions...

Thanks
Crazysah

I’m Indian as well, and I’d just like to point out to those that are not familiar with Indian exams that if you pass at all, that’s considered good, lol.

What publications have you written for?

The fact that you are not applying for financial aid will help you, I think.

One thing you really need to work on–bringing up that SAT score. I think if you got it to break 1900 at least, you’d have the following shots:

Duke - mid- to low- reach
Sarah-Lawrence - don’t know
Penn State - low-reach or match
Franklin & Marshall - don’t know
Skidmore College - don’t know
Colgate University - low-reach or match
University of Maryland - match
University of Virgina - match
University of Rochester - match
University of Wisconsin–Madison - match
University of Washington - match
George Washington University - match
Syracuse University - match
Connecticut College - match

I am not taking the SAT’s again so 1710 is my final score. So what are my chances and any other suggestions?

You say you are interested in LACs, but most of the colleges on your list are not. Are you confused about the meaning of the term?
You need to look at colleges where your SAT score is near the median.

Most of my colleges aren’t LAC’s? Which ones aren’t?
Also, most of these colleges, I am near the median or a little below for SAT scores. Plus I am not applying for aid… Plus I have written for publications…

Also, any other suggestions guys?

Anyone? I will chance back as much as I know…

Duke is your only reach but the others I can definitely see you being admitted. Are you interested in writing? Try LACs such as Swarthmore, Vassar, and Emerson. Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/816473-chance-aa-female-elite-schools-updated-stats.html

Of course I am into writing. I have written for one major online website before and some independent sites as well… I have written for a local newspaper as well. Nothing big though.

So you do see me getting in at all except Duke? Any other suggestions? I don’t want to apply Emerson and Vassar. Swarthmore I would love to apply too but aren’t the SAT Scores a little too high?

As far as I am concerned, UWisconsin–Madison is your match. I dont know the other schools you are applying to, too well.

Duke: Mid reach
Sarah-Lawrence: in
