Indian Student

hey dda sorry for the late didnt notice it at all. Well I am applying at the universities listed on the previous page of this thread. I am interested in MIT, Embry Riddle, California Inst of Tech, Stanford.

ahh...just wondering can anyone guess about my chances at these kinda colleges, my EC are already listed.... and can anyone mail me the list of top 10 aerospace college ;) eh lakshya?

i dont have any chance or what? :P

It may sound anal but if you insist-

Almost all of your ECs are at State/school level which matter little at ivies and other competitive places. Most of the competitions you have have took part in aren't recognized by colleges abroad(or even in India). You seem like a kid interested in computers but there is nothing that shows your passion. The only thing that stands out from your laundry list is that NCC certificate and Leprosy work.

Also never mention that you are a son of army officer, at least on a admission blog- is that the only thing you have to boast about?

You still have a year in you hand, you could still improve your app.

Just my 2 cents

thanks for your views abhisiv

Proof of my passion? I have been a linux developer for the past 4 years. Have been working with all different distros. I have worked with Kororaa project, VLOS project and lot others. As all the work was done unofficially I didnt mention it. I have my own linux distro too rollin out in a few weeks.

What you are saying is completely true, there is no denying to that assertion. Oh yeah I have a got a year in hand, kindly suggest something guys.

And I had participated in the Nasa student involvement program too but the certificates got lost in the mail and that project is now closed by NASA.

Cheers!

lol forgot, being an army officers son is nothing to boast about mate.

Mention all that but try to get some proofs(Recs from your team leader etc.)
Try to diversify your app- almost half of the applicants from India have some-sort of involvement with computers. I am not saying that that's bad but you'll have to stand out form the crowd.

I dont see myself with a career in computers....thats just a hobby mate..
