Guys, I posted the ranking here because I have been asked, over time, by a number of Indian students to give them some indication of schools with level of difficulty. Other national rankings to consider however are: US News, the Atlantic Montly and the Prowl'r College Report. Hopefully, this will be helpful for those outside the US trying to figure out which schools are which.
Good Luck to you all.

oh that's nice :)

since there's so much MIT talk going on here, here's something interesting albeit some years out of date :p

When I was an undergraduate at MIT I loved it. I thought it was a great place, and I wanted to go to graduate school there too, of course. But when I went to Professor Slater and told him of my intentions, he said "We won't let you in here."

I said, "What?"

Slater asked, "Why do you think that you should go to graduate school at MIT?"

"Because MIT is the best school for science in the country."

"You think that?"

"Yeah."

"That's why you should go to some other school. You should find out how the rest of the world is."

. . . . I learned a lot of different things from different schools. MIT is a very good place; I'm not trying to put it down. I was just in love with it. . . . It's like a New Yorker's view of New York: they forget the rest of the country. And while you don't get a good sense of proportion there, you do get an excellent sense of being with it and in it, and having motivation and desire to keep on --that you're specially chosen, and lucky to be there.

Dear astrix,

So with your 1600 (posts) you wont be trying to court Sucharita, right? Because i do believe that it will be a waste of your time. Please read Sucharita's email to me as below.

Dear TiT
Your name itself sounds so hot? :) I wanted to thank you for your interest in me, my SAT scores, and my hairy body. I also wanted to express similar interest from my side and let you know that someone with 1600 and 2390 does sound very attractive to me. I feel that we might have a connection that very few people might have and should plan to meet up after the boards exam. Until then, I hope that we keep in touch via email because I really hate that stupid CC.

Love,

Sucharita

:p
BAZOOKA!

awww astrix you took off the post saying you were stupid :p
and no I dont care but thanks anyway :)

oh wow...not only is TiT a gorilla trainer, he's a schizophrenic gorilla trainer...I'm sure Princeton will love that...they seem to have a penchant for schizophrenics anyway :p

Oh man, thats WAYYY off the mark.:( I'm deeply insulted  A gorilla trainers guiding principal should be 'Know thy gorilla'

gotta say you're a proactive tit :p

incidentally, i was referring to the thread but whatever...

terrific imagery such

no seriously, that poem applies so much to me its not funny :(

Do I dare
Disturb the universe?
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.

The great Richard Feynman wrote something extremely similar to the above in his book, "Surely you're joking Mr Feynman".

Where did you get that from Such??

That is in fact, a quote from Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman which I am rereading for the 216th time :)

Awesome book right???
Just shows what kind of people, were at MIT, are at MIT and are going to be at MIT.

Unfortunately I doubt I'm MIT material :(

Yeah awesome book :)

And never say never...look forward to a fat envelope by 3/14 instead :)

you were talking about indecisiveness such?! i blame a dirty mind :p well... tit being "hands on" did the trick. and i know of prufrock not so i just made assumptions.

as usual, i have no clue what you mean
