Indiana Colleges - Single Dorms

I need some help. Do any of you have advice on what colleges in Indiana have the highest likelihood of a freshman getting a single dorm? Since I’m a six semester graduate, I need to stay in Indiana to get my scholarship. I really prefer privacy when studying and relaxing, as I get migraines often and have stress/anxiety problems, so don’t try to convince me otherwise! I would prefer a smaller school with a low student-to-faculty ratio (15:1 or smaller would be ideal.) I rank high enough in my class, so admission is probably not an issue. I have been looking around at statistics and college websites, but I wanted to see if I could get anecdotal evidence to help me figure this all out. I appreciate your reading this and, if you do, taking the time to respond!

Do you have a single room as a medical accommodation on a 529 plan or other disability plan that will be registered with the disability office? If so, I’d imagine your chances are the same at every school. Ask at the disability office. If you don’t have this as a documented disability, your chances aren’t very good. Get it documented.

An apartment sounds like a better choice for you.

@twoinanddone You’re right, I should look into the specific disability accommodations at colleges that I am interested in!

@TooOld4School I would love an apartment, but a lot of colleges require freshmen to live on campus, and apartments can be really expensive. Considering that I don’t have much, if any, money saved, I would likely have to live on campus first until I can get a job and find an affordable place.

Require or recommend? Another option is to get a room in a house. My cousin did so and lived for free in exchange for helping out an older gent and did some cooking and cleaning for him when he was in college at Michigan.

I guess you can contact the schools and ask if there are singles available. Keep in mind that they usually charge more for singles than doubles.
