I got in both, and they re my top 2... I'm gonna go visit them over spring break, but anyone have anything they d like to compare about the schools? I got into Kelley and Carlson School of management, so if you could compare those 2, lemme hear it.

I know rankings aren’t everything but if you look at the rankings according to Business Week, Kelley is in the top 20 while Carlson is in the top 60 so…

Carlson is A LOT better for undergrad, i think gaille the rankings gaille was referring to were for graduate? I would definitely choose Carlson; one of my best friend’s sisters is a student at Carlson and loves it.

No, those were the rankings for undergraduate education in the Kelley School. I believe Carlson is 55 or something.

US News similarly differentiates the two schools in undergrad business rankings with IU far ahead.

Just because your bf’s sister loves the school doesn’t make it better.

IU hands down. Every ranking system has IU over Minnesota by a wide margin. For Big Ten undergrad business (US News):

Michigan

Indiana

Illinois

Wisconsin

Minnesota

BusinessWeek:

Michigan

Indiana

Illinois

Penn State

Wisconsin

Ohio State

Michigan State

Minnesota

Big Ten has very good undergrad business. If you were in state for Minnesota, I would go with Carlson, but if not IU.

Whether you want to be in a big city or a small town might make a difference. Minnesota is in the city of Minneapolis, while Indiana is in the smaller town of Bloomington.

Also, I would consider the weather–which is brutal in Minnesota during the winter, while it is tough but not brutal in Bloomington.

Lastly, where do you want to go to work upon graduation? If you are interested in Chicago or New York, then I would choose Indiana since more companies from those places recruit at the university.

This of course is the IU forum so most everyone would like IU. One other thing to think about is the growth at IU Kelley Business School. Here is a link to the new business building that is being updated.

cheesewhiz,

Thanks for news on the addition and renovation being built at the Kelley School of Businss. It looks great.

60 Million $$$ of investment to their business program…I’m a fan! But they are also continuing to build and rehab other buildings. Since this post was more about business I thought I’d add that.
