(Indiana Residents) Will it hurt me if I don't get a core 40 academic honors diploma?

From the IU’s website it says that they recommend Indiana residents to get an academic honors diploma. From my understand, recommend means they really want? Will it hurt me if I just get a regular core 40 diploma instead of the academic honors one. My teacher said that colleges don’t care and all it is a sticker.

Also, do any other schools like Purdue or really any schools in the US want to see an academic honors diploma?

Call/email the admissions office and ask. I don’t know how anyone on here would know for sure unless they work for IU
