Indiana U. and i-banking

Which i-banks are recruiting at IU? (Are there any?)

How do Indiana grads in the business world?

Pro/ con Indiana University - what’s “good” what’s “bad” about Kelley School of Business

IU Kelley is a great school, it will give you the possibility do go anywere in business. However it is a big school and not hard to get into so the educational experience is what you make of it (more so than at a place like Wharton). I assume you are reffering to undergrad level.

If you live in Indiana I think its a better choice than Purdue Krannert. If you don't live in Indiana, unless the state school business program isn't good at all, just go to the state school.

And yes Kelley gets I-B recruiters from all over, just check out their website theres tons of info. I know that they send people to Goldman Sachs every year...

Thank you.
Anyone who has attended IU?

Yeah, I go there and all of them recruit and they have good professional programs to prep you for respective industries such as ib, inv. management, consulting

uhyea, do IU have latin honors for undegraduate students if so, what GPA do you need for cum laude.. magna etc..?

Why would you say that if you can go instate (not to indiana) do that? Is kelley not worth it? My instate school is ok but dosnt attract IB recruiters (what I want to go into)?

does IU take spring transfers?

Uncrushable, yes I'm transferring in the spring.

I really want to go here now.
Instead of OSU.

yea, I can't wait either, I got one more semester to finish up here, then I'm there. Just in time for the spring recruiting.

Is that when companies start recruiting, in the spring?

spring, and fall. Though a lot of companies recruit beginning in Janurary.

Is that bad news for people who are going in the spring?

i'm interested in the OP's questions as well. I'm most likely going to indiana in the future.

IU has lots of I-Banking oppurtunities, the Kelley school representative who I talked to on campus said lots of NY banks come to IU to recruit, and a few hundred students get great jobs. There is even an I-Banking club there, that you can get involved with. Kelley is a great place, good scholarship oppurtunities.

There really are no concerns about the strength of the B-School, it's in the top 10 in nearly every major category. However, the campus may not be perfect for the person who loves the big city life, and doesn't want a college town.

Do you go to IU? So beside the Bschool/ibanking options what do you like dislike about the school?

Profs, classes, student body, dorms, food, ect...

I'm probably going to IU next year. I don't know about what the classes are like first hand, but basically i've heard that some of them will be lectures, and even those, you have lots of people who you can ask questions to. Professors WANT you to talk to them, e-mail them, etc.

Dorms are nice. They were the nicest i've visited. Bigger than most, better maintained than most, have Ethernet, pay-per-view TV that you don't pay for, and carpeted. No sinks or bathrooms unless you want a suite, but the community bath is well maintained. Food is good too, but the one I went to wasn't buffet style, which would be the best. Lots of options. They have leather couches, 52 inch big screen TVs with ESPN on, nice chairs and seating, I went to the dorm in Central/East, I think it was Foster.

The only thing I dislike is the lack of diversity and it being in a less than major city, i'd like some more off campus options but people said there are more options and that I didn't look enough. But there are definitely a lack of minorities there, although in the B-School that isn't the case. The B-School everyone is jealous of, they all get great jobs, have the nicest building, etc.

Class sizes are around 30 students on average. Student body, in the B-School, it would be similar to what you would find at other top 30 institutions, but the rest of the school isn't as smart.

A2Wolves06, I can't wait to start at IU, I think the oppurtunities, are well above average, even if one can't get an Ibanking job, they get a job better than the average job most students get, and I'm a minority, so that will atleast add one more to the campus. I could have told you though, that most colleges in Indiana are predominately white.

Most people in college in India are white? Thats crazy. But ya, I cant wait to go to IU either!

I would think that most people in colleges in India are of Indian decent, but for Indiana, yea, they are pretty much white. I think 4% of the student body is Black. I don't really care, and I get a first class education, and they way I preformed in high school, that's a miracle.
