Hey guys,
So i just got admitted into IU and if i do accept, i will be starting this fall. (yes, i applied really late.) I will most probably be taking up business as my major, as it is where my interest lies, and it is why i even applied for IU in the first place. However, as i applied late, i did not have a chance to try to apply to schools such as umich ann arbor even though Ross is a better program. Both Kelley and Ross offer good programs but i think most would say that Ross is a better school in terms of academics and placement, correct me if i am wrong.
Judging from the class profile of Ross's BBA program in 2012, less than 1% are transfers! Meaning that transferring from kelley to ross is virtually impossible...therefore i have a few questions on my mind right now.
1) Is Ross really a notch above Kelley in terms of business programs?
2) Where does Kelley stand in terms of it's business program? Is it comparable to the likes of USC, Mccombs?
3) Is it advisable to enrol into a state school or CC first before transferring into a better college like Umich, or is it too risky a move to make?

Thank you, all/any advice would be greatly appreciated.

go to IU get involved, learn and enjoy during your four years @ IU and stop worrying about transferring before you even enroll! starting with a bad/negative attitude sucks and your negative energy repels people that you might make friends with! other schools are not " better" they maybe different. it is a super myth that mich or any other school is “better” or worse for that matter , based on other people saying it. IU can be a great academic and social experience. the attitude is the one thing you control. and no matter what you decide to do… stop listening to other people or reading lists about ranks. it is a waste of energy! if you go, go with an open mind , give it a chance and you might find it to be a perfect fit and you may be super glad you went to IU!

Enjoy your experience at IU and don’t look back!

Thanks for the input! Well its because I’m an intl student, hence the school fees will probably be a hefty amount, so I guess I would wanna get into the best program in that sense. But yeah, no negativity or anything, just wondering whether it would be a wise choice to spend all that money to go to IU, which isn’t exactly an “instant recognition” school. Furthermore the brand name kind of matters in fields such as business/finance.

Yes.

2) Where does Kelley stand in terms of it’s business program? Is it comparable to the likes of USC, Mccombs?

Yes. Top 15ish b-school.

Do not try it. Transferring into Ross is very, very difficult.

Go to Kelley. Although not quite on par with Ross, it is an excellent business school. You can get an excellent education there and assuming you do well, you will have great career options.

thanks for the input, still waiting if i can be accepted as a direct admit!

is Kelley considered a semi target?

If you have to ask so many questions the chances of getting into IB are low at best. IB is shrinking and even Harvard grads are not getting hired anymore like they used to be. Why do you think you would be good for IB?
