Well, based on the posts here, we kept checking and status changed to Admitted this evening with the following:
Career: Undergraduate
Program: Arts & Sciences Undergraduate
Plan: Human Biology BS
Application Date: 2023-09-10
DETAILS:
Congratulations! You’ve been admitted to Indiana University Bloomington. You should receive an email within one week of the date of your acceptance that provides information about your next steps. Welcome to the IU family!
Stats: OOS (Minnesota) female, public high school with some college credits, 3.7 W, TO, OK extracurriculars, music teacher recommendation, and required Common App essay.
My son was accepted yesterday afternoon as a direct admit to Kelley and already got his follow up email confirming this. We are OOS (NJ). Stats: 4.4 weighted, 1520 SATs. Lots of EC, leadership, community service, 2 varsity sports x4 years, multiple awards at local and state level.
If you had to submit a Kelley review request for consideration as a direct admit, the IU admission decision you may have received now is to the University Division of IU as a pre business and intended business major (accounting, marketing, etc.). This is not a direct admit to Kelley. Based on last year’s thread, the Kelley decision may not be released for another 4-6 weeks on a rolling basis.
My daughter got admitted to IU today…us citizen studying in India…when and where can we see whether she has been found eligible for the special scholarship…I believe there is a special scholarship application…will this show up in the portal if she is eligible? Any one has got any information on scholarships yet?
Has anyone been admitted yet for global/international studies or other majors at the Hamilton-Lugar School? I don’t think I’ve seen any posted in this thread. Congrats to everyone who already has their acceptance!
Son accepted yesterday to Indiana with auto admit to Kelley and Honors college
OOS - Texas
Weighted GPA - 4.2
SAT - 1510
Strong extracurriculars
7 APs
We’re excited!!! Hoping everyone hears soon!
Congrats!!! Does it mention Kelley in the acceptance? My son’s acceptance just Had Business and Finance and he does meet the criteria to auto admit. We are just waiting for the email to come so we know if its official. Thx
I’m still confused on process. My daughter meets the GPA stats and ACT requirement for direct admit to the Kelley school, but because she went to two high schools, she is not eligible for direct admit and has to petition. Does that mean she won’t get accepted to IU until Kelley makes a decision? Or does she get admitted to IU in general and placed into another school (i.e. the liberal arts school) until such time as Kelley makes a decision?
This is in reply to lovetractor. This is certainly a very confusing 2-step admission procedure at IU. If you don’t meet the auto admit stats for Kelley and have to petition, you will get admitted to IU first to the University Division (liberal arts) with a pre business and intended business major focus. The Kelley decision will come later (hopefully not too long) separately from Kelley. This is what the email said from Kelley after my D made the review request. It could take up to 6 weeks or more from admission to IU date based on last year’s thread. It is still possible to get into Kelley after freshmen year using standard admission but I am sure it is not an easy alternative in terms of available spots at the time and required coursework. To go that route, your child really needs to love IU generally but it is possible they would remain in the University Division if the requirements are not met. I would think most applicants would go to another school’s business was school but it is highly subjective decision.
Thanks so much Teddy for the clarification. I would be surprised if she wasn’t accepted from petition as it is just a second high school that apparently is disqualifying for direct admit, but then again nothing surprises me at this point. College admissions has literally gone insane and is not sustainable on its current path, in my humble opinion. Does not being in Kelley or maybe being an econ major preclude applying for internships or jobs or do employers only look at the Kelley school? If the latter we will move on if not accepted.
