Hi! My OOS son just submitted his application for the selective scholarship at Indiana University Bloomington. Does anyone know when/how we will be notified about any money awarded? He will only be able to afford to attend IUB if he is given a scholarship, and right now it is his first choice. Thanks!
I think January…not positive though.
My oldest son did the Selective Scholarship App in 2014 and received the Cox Engagment Scholarship. That was an interview process that he went down for around the end of March of his Senior year so we did not know he had the scholarship until mid April.
My son got his initial scholarship in his acceptance letter and the invitation to do the SSA. He heard about an additional scholarship from the SSA at the end of February.
How much would it usually be for a SSA scholarship? Thanks!
@JoyceX I’m wondering the same thing. I’m hoping it’s enough to make a difference if my son get one!
For the general application, did you guys write the general essay? I feel like for me it would just be repetitive of what was already in my application. Is it necessary or am I able to skip it if I feel this way? Any advice?
My son wrote one, but just tweaked the general essay he used for his application.
My daughter did something similar, and mentioned a circumstance with my health. She’s having a much harder time with the SSA Analytical Essay - just difficult to predict what they want.
Has anyone heard back on the SSA?
Still waiting. We pretty much already have all information already in from 8 other schools. Just waiting on this one last piece.
My son wasn’t notified of his additional scholarship until March. When he received it, they asked him to please notify ASAP if he would or wouldn’t be matriculating, because they would offer it to someone else if he wouldn’t be using it. So I think they offer at least some scholarships to the students they most want, then wait to hear back.
My son hasn’t heard anything about the SSA yet, but did receive a letter a few days ago increasing the amount of the Dean’s Scholarship.
@Lindagaf Thank you for that information. Are you comfortable sharing how much they offered? I am having difficulty finding if this is a big scholarship or a smaller amount like most in the $2k-$3k range.
He was offered an additional $5k annually. I’m sure there are bigger scholarships. But $20k isn’t bad for a few essays:-)
@Lindagaf i completely agree. do you know if they have released the results of the KODI scholarship ? also when do they release the SSA results
