Indiana University SSA

Hi,
I was filling out the SSA and I was just curious:
Should I write a works cited for the 3rd essay? It is a persuasive but says to research.
Thanks.

Not sure if it is needed but I included works cited page

Is 650 words a problem??

Re: 650 words a problem?

What do the instructions say?

approx. 600 words for research paper

650 should be fine if further editing and refining can’t cut it down.

Just submitted my finalized SSA.
Good luck to everyone; I wish you the best.
Also, does anyone know an approximate time to hear back?
I’m impatient since IU is my top choice at the moment.

I don’t know about the word limit; I don’t think there was one last year.
I did include a references section and used in-text citations.

I think I received my award in early March.

On your “to-do” list does it show “SSA: Complete Application” and “SSA: Complete Essays” even though you have already submitted them?

@vikingplyr mine still says that I need to do my application and essays, even though I submitted a day ago. IU was the same way with my transcripts for my initial application, so it’ll probably take a few days before the system catches up.

there is no need to do a works cited.

Good luck to all who completed the application!

Does anyone know how many students are selected as finalists for the Kelley Scholars?

In 2012-13, 400 students were considered. 8 were chosen as Kelley Scholars.

[Indiana University announces 2012-13 Kelley Scholars: IU News Room: Indiana University](<a href=“Indiana University announces 2012-13 Kelley Scholars: IU News Room: Indiana University”>Indiana University announces 2012-13 Kelley Scholars: IU News Room: Indiana University)

Thanks rrah. But according to the article, it looks like 400 were “invited to apply”. I’m wondering of those who apply, how many are invited to the finalist weekend in February.

Probably just the scholarship winners?

My daughter received the following email and I was just curious how many students are selected as finalists. I know the chances for Kelley Scholars is VERY low, especially for OOS students.

“Thank you for submitting an application for the Kelley Scholars Program at Indiana University Bloomington. We are writing to confirm that we have received your complete application. The Kelley faculty committee is currently reviewing applications. Letters notifying you of your status will be mailed by Monday, January 14, 2013. If you are selected as a finalist, additional information regarding the required Interview Weekend (February 9 – 10, 2013) will be included.”

Kelley Scholars is SUPER competitive, I’m friends with 1 of them. But don;t let that discourage you, chances are, you’ll get a really good scholarship if you’re smart enough to be considered for the Kelley Scholars Scholarship.

The Kelley Scholars is only for Indiana residents and this year only 8 got it.
