How long will it take to know if I received aid after completing the Selective Scholarship Application?
What kind of aid? Federal? Institutional?
DS heard at end of February.
My understanding on the SSA’s is that it would be more towards February. I know a lot have already heard on the Dean’s and Provost but the SSA apps that my D submitted said the app was due Mid December and the Letters of Recommendations are due mid January. That would put them most likely into February for notifications. There were some other scholarship applications to fill out for her as well but those aren’t due until March 1st so we are still working on those two.
Just checking in to see if anyone has heard about their SSA application yet? S heard he didn’t get the large Kelley scholarship but that’s been it so far. I believe they don’t tell you if you don’t win anything additional, is that correct?
My D just received her Direct Admit letter for the School of Education last night. In her letter they said she would here on her SSA application by March 1st. We will know within the Month if she is awarded anything from the School of Ed via her SSA app.
@bulldog25 You are correct. I believe Hutton will tell you if you don’t get a Hutton scholarship, but that’s it
@dcolosi - Congratulations to your D! My oldest D is a freshman direct admit in the school of education right now and absolutely loves it! The education dept awards were explained to me to be on average smaller than some other depts but she still did receive an extra $1000/year for her direct admit acceptance plus the travel abroad stipend which is so nice.
@bulldog25 Thanks. Glad to hear your D is enjoying the program. I’ve heard as well that it is a smaller award but since my D hasn’t received anything else from IU, at this point any amount would be a help. We were surprised she didn’t get anything from the Provost award. The stipend as a DA is nice so we are pleased with that for the travel abroad program.
@iubaccounting - ouch that’s what I was afraid of. He’s down to three schools and an extra award would seal the deal for IU, it’s hard waiting until March…
How hard is it to get direct admit to CAS?
I was notified of being a direct admit to college of arts and science. My stats are SAT 1500, ACT 33, STEM interest, lots of ECs. So far no news of any additional scholarship money other than 11k a year OOS merit award. @ZBlue17
Does anyone know when this month the Hutton scholarships would come out? I have very good stats but didn’t turn in the SSA until few days before the modified deadline
The website says end of Feb.
@orwellparasiempre - I don’t think it matters too much if you turned it in later as long as it was before the deadline. In general IU seems pretty numbers orientated when handing out scholarship money.
which large kelley scholarship? Fry?
My daughter received notification of her School of Education SSA award this week, but has not heard about the Hutton SSA.
@ashleynovello - I’m not sure of the name of the Kelley award but it’s approximately 10 in state students and it’s a complete full ride plus extras. You also are directly admitted to the Kelley honors program which is an amazing place to be. S’s friend actually just found out she received it. There’s an interview process and no financial need component.
@yobub34 my D received her notification of the School of Ed SSA award on Friday, she also received her acceptance into the INSPIRE LLC but so far that is all we have heard about as well. We are going to Red Carpet day on March 3rd and the INSPIRE program is meeting with us to show her the dorm and INSPIRE floor.
