Indiana v/s Boston College

My son got acceptance to both BC (Carroll) and Indiana (Kelley). We are in the process of making a decision one way or other. Will like to hear from people out there some frank opinions for both schools. we love both of them.

We are in CA so out of state for both colleges. My son would like to major in Finance. Direct admission to business school in both colleges.

No real advice, but make sure your son visits both. If you can fit in an overnight with a student, that would be good. My son has a couple of very good options, and we likely won’t visit until mid-April, so it will be a late in the game decision. Good luck. Let us know what you decide.

They are pretty close. If your son is interested in I-Banking, see following links:

You can search for others too.

My son is currently a freshman direct admit to Kelley and loves it (we are also from California). He was also admitted as a direct admit to Carroll at BC a year ago. He visited both schools and for him it just came down to how he felt on each campus. IU offered a generous scholarship, but he was offered no money at BC. We would have paid for BC had that been where he wanted to go, but he picked IU and hasn’t regretted it for a minute.

In terms of size and location, these schools are very different. Very large school in a college town in Indiana vs small school in a large east coast city. If your son has a preference as to what type of college experience he is looking for, I would consider these differences. My second daughter wanted the smaller campus in a big east coast city, so she chose that over IU. My oldest is a Kelley senior.

I would say definitely try to visit both campus, and see which one he likes the best.
Kelley has many great programs and pretty good reputation but BC has a way better reputation overall. Students from both schools will be pretty different too(Public VS Private)
