I know i posted a thread a while ago about Indiana vs. UIUC..but now I've added University of Rochester to the list..
So basically my situation is still the same.
Indiana-$36,000 (9000 in scholarship)
UIUC-$40,000 (all loans)
Rochester-$52,000 (30,000 in grants)

I know that I don't want to become an engineer for sure.. (I'm good at calculus but don't exactly "love it") I've also been thinking about architecture..(perhaps?) And I want to study languages/East Asia..so i'll probably make my passion a Minor with a more "practical" major (as my mother put it).. I DO have a passion for the environment however..so I was thinking if I should try out enviromental engineering or Landscape architecture...My parents are nagging me to make a decision by Sunday :/
Help, please?

I would say probably University of Illinios- Champaign

UIUC is great, but its not 13 K a year GREATER than Indiana (which is 52K total) and not 18K a year greater than Rochester (which is 72K total).

Of the three Rochester is actually ranked a bit higher (right around where UIUC is ranked). If everything was equal I would probably opt for UIUC because of its proximity to Chicago. BUT its not even close to being equal. You can save almost 75,000 dollars by going to a comparable institution. So I would pick Rochester. Its almost a no brainer, although I could see going to Indiana if you want a milder climate, but not at 20 grand more.

Rochester. It is an excellent school and will cost you less.

Indiana has no architecture or environmental engineering (or any other engineering for that matter).

any other opinions?
I really wish I could afford UofI… *sigh

IU is wonderful for languages/East Asia but no architecture or engineering. You could major in Environmental Science or Geology. If you really love languages IU offers a lot of unusual language studies, not offered anywhere else, that have very good job placement right out of school.

lakeefect, could you elaborate about IU’s language and East Asian Studies program?
