I’m applying to Brown, and I don’t know whether or not I should indicate that I’m interested in being a Pre-Med. I received B’s in AP Calculus and Honors Physics first semester (I got As during freshman-junior years in sciences and math), and I’m worried that if I say I’m interested in Pre-Medicine, they’ll use that as a factor to reject me.

If you guys can provide a link where this is indicated, I would be so grateful!

Brown says they don’t care what you put as your intended concentration - which is smart considering I bet like 80% of all students switch their concentration at least once over the course of their studies, and you are in no way bound by what your intended major that you indicate on the common app.

Also, I got a B in preIB Chem and straight B’s in AP Chem AND a B in the AP Chem lab which is noted as a separate class, so basically I got 4 B’s in Chemistry-related areas. I asked the representative if they would look down on my application if I said I wanted to be premed but didn’t submit a rec from the Chem teacher (or any other science teacher) I had for 2 years and she said that was no problem. I don’t think your B’s in math and science would be a make or break deal if you indicated an interest in being a doctor.
