Indie-Artsy scene @ Penn

Can somebody please tell me about the Indie/Artsy/Hispter scene at Penn?

Thrift shops around? Hipster bars/coffee shops?

Where can the artsy indie kids be found at Penn?

Independent movie theaters or movie nights?

Thank you!

Hipsters about in University City, especially in the western end. It’s hipster heaven, the frontier of the gentrification they enjoy and bemoan (the hipster psyche is complex, I don’t claim to understand it entirely myself).

Check out the areas around Clark Park and the Green Line caf

And what about the students???

There’s a hipster frat at Penn. Well, maybe they’re not all hipsters, but there’s a very very untraditional frat that most people don’t even know about. They hold concerts at their house on Spruce Street fairly often.

That sounds really sweet. I was admitted to the CGS for the fall. I love indie rock and visual arts, I hope I can find my clique there!

i feel like you’re not really hipster if you have to ask where the hipsters are…

gar we don’t need any more hipsters

Honestly though, welcome to Penn. You’ll find your crowd pretty easily.

I’m not a Hipster! Just love music and arts :P

Thank you Matt!
