Do med schools look carefully at the individual grades that make up your science/overall GPA? I'm asking because I've done well in all of my science courses (all A's) except for my first semester of Organic (B). I know that this isn't too much to worry about, but I am just curious as to how exactly med school adcoms look at your grades in general. Thanks!

Chill out.

wow. again, i wasn't concerned about my particular score. just wondering in general what the system is. didn't realize that the college confidential veterans would judge so harshly. hoping someone has something constructive to add?

It is not the case that a school will look at your GPA and throw your transcript away.

The average science GPA of matriculating med students is about 3.6, which means most got Bs and yes, some Cs, at some point (AAMC: FACTS Table 17: MCAT Scores and GPAs for Applicants and Matriculants to U.S. Medical Schools ).

Also, NCG is allowed to be mean because he's been going through the stress of applying and interviewing lately, heh.

I'm not being mean lol

We don't know what they'll look at or care about because everything will be presented to the med schools (individual grades and overall GPA). Regardless, it's a silly thing to worry about. If you have 5 A's and 1 B, who cares whether they look at your 3.8+ GPA or the fact you have 5 A's and 1 B.
