<p>Any ideas what to send the sons for first care packages? Can they get a package while in Indoc or will be be after Indoc before they can open it? Can they get any mail during Indoc? </p>
<p>Indoc is considered the first two weeks, right?</p>

<p>Hey you Mids where are you when you're needed? What did ya'll like getting in those first boxes? I sent nothing but bad (really bad) junk food so I'm not commenting... :D</p>
<p>I thought it was funny that the most requested items were swiffers and shoe polish....junk food was way down the list :)</p>
<p>during indoc don't send any food, you'd be wasting your money. the DIs aren't allowed to open your packages, but they are allowed to watch you open them. anything electronic or food gets taken away, and the food is often never seen again. send lots of mail though, and pics of family, friends, things like that-- they're like gold. during indoc mail is key, right after they're done is when you will want to send care packs, they'll let you know what they want. : )</p>

<p>once care packages are allowed, the two biggest things your kids will want (probably) are powdered gatorade mix and beef jerky. two of life's simple pleasures.</p>
<p>When LFWB was a plebe candidate, during indoc, if you sent enough for everyone in the company, it got shared by everyone. I sent 60 brownies from Marvelous Market in DC and they were a huge hit for the entire Company. </p>
<p>The key is to send enough for everybody.</p>

<p>things i would bring to indoc...</p>
<p>1) goldbond
2) body wipes (for cleaning your self the showers dont work)
3)cell phone (they will take it and you can get it back after indoc... its better than waiting for it to be mailed out)
4)saftey pins (for making a tight bed)
5) lighter (burning off IP's on your uniform)
6)Under armor compression shorts (expensive but really nice after you start to chafe)
7)mini pen flashlight (dont let ur DI see it but they are nice for writing letters at night... )</p>

<p>send letters. it is nice to be remembered that after a long tiring day that youre family is still out there beyond the walls. pre-addressed/ stamped envelopes are nice. i used to write my letters in the head after lights out every night: less chance of DIs finding out about it.
food is always great. the DIs will normally let the candidates eat it but they will definitely take a large amount.
for things after indoc that i wish i would have had which you cannot use during the first two weeks, is a camera, a nice sports watch and yes: your phone. my roommate used to text at night (he would obviously sneak them) until he was discharged for his ankle.</p>
