Hey everyone,
I'm trying to find an industrial design school in California. I have a very good GPA (3.7-3.8), and a strong portfolio. I know about Art Center, but it just seems like a poor match for someone out of high school. The other school I was considering was the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, however their 100% acceptance rate makes me a bit uneasy, especially considering that I am qualified to have a good shot at some very competitive schools. What other options do I have?

Art Center is definitely IT for automotive design, don't look anywhere else if that's your interest. Otherwise, look at Otis or Cal Poly SLO. I've heard Academy of Art is loaded with wealthy foreign students who are buying 4 years of time in the US.

hey, yeah art center was recently ranked like the number one Industrial Design Program in the world for both graduate and undergraduate. I dont understand whats not to like. I am a student coming straight out of high school to go to art center and while i wont necessarily have a "typical" college experience, i'd think a schools education is worth more than its social life.

If you look at the rankings, most of the good industrial design schools in the US are not located anywhere near California EXCEPT Art Center. In addition, Art Center may even be one of the best ID school in the US too.
